For the first time in Y/N's life, he actually felt like he'd overslept that evening. Not least of all because he was the last one in the dormitory the following morning. He wasn't complaining, far from it. Especially once he got up and felt the strain in his legs. He'd fallen asleep so quickly, he hadn't even realised how tired he was. But now it came back in full swing, and it was all he could do to not get back in bed.

As he dressed, there came a dull hooting and Ves came fluttering in through the window and landed on her perch by Y/N's bed.

'Hey girl,' said Y/N, wandering over and stroking her feathers. 'How'd the delivery go?'

Ves gave a sort of non-committal hoot as if to say it had been nothing difficult. Y/N smiled and reached into his bedside table to extract some owl treats and pass them over to her. He continued running a finger along her feathers and she pressed herself lightly into his hand as he did so.

'You want to come down with me once I'm ready? Come and see everyone?'

She hooted in affirmation and Y/N smiled as he turned back and finished getting dressed. A few moments later and he emerged into the Common Room with Ves on his shoulder. He was surprised when she didn't take off, however. She remained on his shoulder as he moved over to where Ginny and Hermione sat, whispering to each other.

'Morning girls,' he muttered, stifling a yawn and he slipped into a chair opposite them.

Hermione threw him a radiant smile as Ginny spoke.

'Morning Y/N. This is late for you.'

'Hermione had me dancing so hard, I'm surprised my legs are still attached,' said Y/N. 'Think I deserve a break after that.'

'You did keep up with me pretty well, so I guess I'll let you off,' said Hermione as she glanced down at her Ancient Runes work. Wait-

'We've already done all our homework 'Mione,' said Y/N, confused. 'We got it done immediately.'

'This isn't mine,' said Hermione without looking up and Y/N caught sight of Ginny look away innocently.

'She offered!' she said a few moments later when Y/N finally caught her eye and gave her a disapproving look.

Y/N laughed, shaking his head at her.

'How was Potter?'

'Surprisingly actually alright,' said Ginny. 'He danced a decent amount. Not as much as you two, but more than I was expecting. Then he and Ron went into the gardens for a bit. He came back and kind of danced again but seemed distracted. I imagine he'll appear later. I think he probably wants to discuss it with you.'

'Why me?' said Y/N, leaning back slightly.

'Because you're the one he always goes to aside from Ron,' said Hermione before Ginny could even answer. 'He trusts you a lot.'

'Merlin knows why, all I do is get him in trouble, but I'll take it I guess. How do you think you'll be around him now?'

'To be honest, alright,' said Ginny. 'Last night was a nice way to sort of burn off the anxiety. I won't deny that I still kind of like him but I'm not going to keep chasing him. Especially whilst Cho's on the scene. He's got eyes for other people at the moment so. I may even look for other options if they appear.'

'Atta girl,' said Y/N with a warm smile. 'The best thing you can do, especially whilst you hang out with us so much. Speaking of, where are he and Ron?'

'They mentioned something about training,' said Hermione nonchalantly. 'Also asked us to send you along once you woke up, but I said no.'

'You said no?' asked Y/N, slightly amused.
