Whilst most of the hall turned their eyes onto the black-haired boy, Y/N kept his locked-on Dumbledore and the Goblet.
It couldn't be? Surely this was some joke. How could Harry have bypassed the line? And even if he could have, why would he? He didn't need nor want to, especially after Y/N and Hermione's warnings. No, there was something else at play here.
That was made even more obvious by the look on Harry's face as he looked around at them.
A buzzing of noise began to swell through the Great Hall getting louder and louder. Y/N watched his mum get to her feet and sweep over to Dumbledore, whispering urgently to him. Dumbledore was nodding slightly.
'I didn't put my name in,' said Harry. The tone in his voice only cemented this as the truth to Y/N. 'You know I didn't.'
'I know mate,' said Y/N after the other three sat frozen, 'But you're going to need to go. If I can swing it, I'll be right behind you.'
'Harry Potter! Harry, up here if you please,' called Dumbledore.
Harry got to his feet shakily and moved off up towards the staff table. He turned at the top and made his way through the door behind the table into the side room. The eyes of every single person in the Great Hall were upon him.
The moment Harry had vanished, Dumbledore's eyes turned back to the crowd and swept the Gryffindor table before finally locking on Y/N's. He gave the smallest of nods.
'And there we have it!' he called. 'The champions for the tournament! I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing them the very best. Now, off to bed with you all. Pip pip.'
'I'm going up,' said Y/N the moment Dumbledore had finished. 'No chance Harry tricked that Goblet and got his name in. I need to check it over.'
'Be careful, please,' said Hermione, 'And let us know what happens.'
'Wait for me,' said Y/N to her and Ginny, 'I shouldn't be too long.'
'You don't reckon he did it?' said Ron. Did he sound angry?
'Not a chance,' said Y/N. 'You saw his face, and I checked that age line when we were there. No way he got past that. I couldn't have. It was Dumbledore's best magic. Which means someone old enough to go past unharmed did. I'll let you all know later, but trust me, he didn't do it.'
Ron's face seemed to relax a little bit at this, but he still looked perturbed.
'Look, if he did it, I'll join you in being annoyed because we all agreed we weren't going to. But until then, wait until we know everything yeah?'
'Yeah, alright,' said Ron. 'You'd better go. Dumbledore and McGonagall are waiting'
Y/N nodded gave Hermione a quick kiss and swept off towards the staff table. Sure enough, they were stood there waiting for him. Professor Karkaroff and Madime Maxime were stood not far away too.
'I was hoping-' began Y/N.
'That I would allow you to check over the Goblet for tampering?' asked Dumbledore. 'That was indeed my intention. Also, I believe Mr Potter may need a friend alongside him right now.'
Dumbledore led the way over to the door and opened it as students began to filter slowly out of the Great Hall. Y/N, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, Professor Karkaroff, Mr Crouch and Madame Maxime all followed. Mr Bagman had apparently already slipped his way inside.
'Madame Maxime!' said Beauxbaton's champion, Fleur Delacour, at once, striding over to her headmistress. 'Zey are saying zat zis little boy is to compete also!'
