"Come here kitty kitty," chris calls out as he looks around my best friend madi's apartment. He absolutely loves her cats, biscuit and ollie. He has been wanting a kitten forever. "I think they're hiding from you babe," I joke. He rolls his eyes at my sarcasm.

When we get home all he can talk about is the care. How funny and cute they are. Since chris and I just moved in together I've been thinking about adding a new member to our little family. I set up a visit at the rescue for tomorrow at noon since chris will be at a meeting.

next day*
I wake up to see that chris already left so I get up and get dressed for the day. When I'm dressed and ready I head to my first stop, the pet store. I pick out some toys and a litter box. I pick out the cutest mouse toy that I just know chris will love. Then I get the basic stuff like cat food and whatever.

After I buy all the necessities for the kitten, I realize it's time to head to the rescue. When I get there J go straight back to the kitten area. They are all so adorable but a little black and white one catches my eye. He was sitting in the corner by himself so I pick him up. He immediately starts purring and licking on me. I know this is the one.

After I fill out some paperwork for the kitten, we drive back to the house to surprise chris. I set everything up on the couch so that it's the first thing he sees when he walks in.

When I get the text from chris I sit on the couch with the new kitten in my lap. Just a few minutes later he comes walking through the door. As soon as he sees everything he freaks out. "No you didn't y/n. You got us a fucking cat," he yells with excitement. I laugh and hand him the kitten.

He snuggles the kitten and kisses it's head. "You are literally the best girlfriend ever," he says. He is so adorable when he gets excited. "Well, I try," I say sarcastically. He kisses me on the cheek and then pulls his focus back to the new addition of our family.

"What are we gonna name him?" I ask. Chris thinks for a minute before deciding on a name. "What about squidward?" he asks. "Chris, are you serious?" I respond. "Oh I'm serious"
