He doesn't know why they went to the old cabin, it was obvious that it was near collapsation and if it collapsed on anyone there's no way to save them. But they did, and they started cleaning it out of leaves and trash. He was sweeping and Boris was cleaning up trash in the same room. It was Hopper's old room.
That's when he heard a creak, his heart fell to his feet. The ceiling was falling on them. He braced for impact. Hands holding above his head. It never comes.
He looked above just to see the wood being held above them, he felt blood trickle from his nose. "Holy shit." He heard Boris say. "Boris please run out of the room I don't know how long I can hold this," he felt the wait coming down on him. "Okay!" Boris ran out of the room and not even a minute later El came in. "Will, I thought you said it was gone?" She asked "I thought so too I tried to crush a soda can and that did nothing, but look at me now, now, where do I put this?" He asked as he felt it slowly start to put more pressure on him. "Just put it in the forest, that way." She pointed. He slowly moved it, then put it down. "Holy shit. El, it's back!" He exclaimed "It's back!" She echoed.
He felt like crying. Ruby was gone but she still left a piece of her.
He didn't feel like crying; he did in fact cry. Tear after tear falling down his face as everything set in. He was gone, Ruby was gone, the upside down, is finally done. He was free, free from his grasp.
He could finally breathe.
– 1989 –
Years had finally passed, Hawkins Indiana was back to its former glory, just as it was when he was a kid. His family and Boris went to California to grab their things and move back to their old home, Hoppers was included in that. He was 19 years old, a freshman in college. He went to Grace College, majoring in arts. Boris, freshman, majoring in business. They shared a dorm. He had gotten over the trauma with the help of a government issued therapist. He still had a nightmare every once in a while but he was told that was 'normal'. While they were bad, he had his Borya to help him pass the anxiety attacks. He had gotten used to his powers, using them to help him around the dorm, and find things that went missing. He also found a way to move around, using The Upside Down. He was very fond of running around The Upside Down and then coming out of a hole. It scared the shit out of Boris.
Right now it was spring break and they were back in hawkins.
Mike, cut things off with El after finally coming to terms with his sexuality. She was sad for a while but she rebounded. She's been happier than ever. She learned that she didn't need a boyfriend to be happy at all. Mike hadn't gotten a boyfriend, he was not ready for that. He was still stopping being self-homophobic, he needed time getting out of a mindset. Everyone understood, and helped when they could. Max and Lucas were no longer an on and off relationship, they were happier than ever together. Erica was still in high school, she started a new D&D club after no one would after Eddie finally graduated. She was the DM, and a damn good one at that. His brother and Nancy were married, and had one kid, she was named Olivia, that's right, he's an uncle! Dustin was happy with Suzie, they still were long distant, but they were happy with that. His mom was happy with Hopper when she got remarried. After the whole thing with the upside down, he and Robin connected, she made a few jokes saying, "I know what you are!" And he would reply with the same. She got herself into college, and helped him get a job at the Video Store in town. That's where he worked along Steve, who after a while got into a relationship with Eddie. I know right, a typical popular guy gets with the 'outcast'. But they seemed to be happy.
He was happy. And he can't wait for what the future holds for him.
