Superintendent Emir had been true to his word, he was going to follow all the leads on the Selin Atakan case and make sure all parties that had a part in letting her run free were punished. He started with his own men. Detectives Bozkurt and Reyza received reprimands and were both demoted from the Detective rank when the Superintendent found out that they only went to Selin's old address and made no further attempt to track her down. They never talked to or visited her parents, they never looked into her alias'. When Mr. Bolat called with updates they lied to him. He didn't need detectives in his department that didn't care for victims and did shoddy work.

His next target was the Atakan family. When brought under pressure of arrest her father admitted that he knew that Selin was staying at the lake house. It wasn't in the Atakan name, so she was well hidden. He had not told his wife and let her answer the questions from the private detectives so that she didn't lie. They admitted to giving Selin both a bank card and a credit card to fund her escapades. Burak requested access to the lake house, there he found a treasure trove of information.

Selin had kept a diary on her laptop, she had for years. Her password wasn't difficult to figure out, it was Serkan's birthdate. Burak didn't feel the need to share that with either Serkan or Eda. He started to read the diary going backwards from the most recent date. As Fifi said, the woman was a loon. Never once in all of her ramblings did she take responsibility for anything.

Fifi had come with to look through the house and was reading over his shoulder at a particular passage grumbling away.

"Something you wanted to say Fi?"

"Oh, I was reading about the fashion show that we did for Aydan. The men were auctioned off, you know a bachelor's auction? Serkan ended up outbidding the highest bidder on himself so that he could take Eda to dinner. Read that, the witch changed the restaurants on them. I remember that night, Eda was devastated, she thought that Serkan had played her. Ayfer made her promise to never see him again. She was torn up. Serkan swore he waited for her for hours, I felt bad for the guy. It was petty stuff like this that she pulled all the time."

Burak pulled her around to sit on his lap, "You know she's dead, right?"

"Your point? She was still a witch. We talk about what bad people who are dead do all the time. Doesn't make them any less bad or any less dead it just means that we'll never be sad that they met a fiery end."

"You are a pistol."

"I tried to tell you."

"Wouldn't have it any other way. You want to keep reading? I'm going to check out the gun range that she made for herself. Seems like she was a little Annie Oakley and Eda almost dropping those stupid scissors saved her life."

"Did I tell you that Serkan called the Conservatory Chairman and asked for the scissors? I thought it was a joke at first but he wanted them, they saved her life so he's putting them in their new house."

He let out a bark of laughter, "Seriously?"

She was giggling, "I kid you not. He took them to that University Design team and they're making them into a fountain for the yard. Sometimes Serkan Bolat can be oddly romantic."

"So you have Eda duty tomorrow? Are you finally going to tell her?"

"Serkan says I have to. He said that too many people know for it to remain a secret much longer so yeah I'll have the talk with her tomorrow. I can read this laptop later, let's go out to her shooting range and see what she did."
