Mind Games

Chapter - 16

Selin paced back and forth in her living room. The session with Dr. Azar was a total flop. The joint session was anything but a success, Serkan actually told her off. That had never happened before, maybe being in front of the doctor had made him bold. Maybe he was showing off for him?

What if Serkan was starting to get his memories back? If that was the case then Selin was going to have to change her tactics. If Serkan remembered why she left Istanbul in the first place then he wasn't going to be happy that she was here again. He had given her a pass when she left, he had always given her a pass but Selin had a feeling that those days were over. No, the gold-digger would make sure that Serkan had no good memories of her. All the blame for everything that had gone wrong would fall on her.

No, with Eda fully embedded in his life Serkan would no longer allow her to not face any consequences for her actions. Not that she ever really did anything bad, nobody died. Yet. Selin got lucky with Erdem, if the idiot hadn't jumped he might have died. Not that she meant to kill him or anything. He just happened to be there, she was really looking for Serkan. She knew that ArtLife had a construction site in that area and she thought that he might be visiting it. Of course now Serkan knew that she had been following him, she had to be smarter.

She went back over to her table and sat down to write her next blind item. Hmmm, who should it be about? Eda? Serkan? Maybe both of them? She started to write, 'Not so sound mind and not so loyal body causing foundations to crumble?'. Was that too vague she wondered? Maybe it needed more detail, 'Are a CEO not of sound mind and girlfriend not of loyal body seeing their foundations hit rock bottom?' That sounded better Selin thought, it made Serkan sound crazy, Eda sound like a cheater and their relationship sound like it was over. Why in the world was he still seeing s shrink? He only would have had to go once but here he was weeks later still seeing the guy, maybe he was crazy. And Eda, she always had men falling all over her to do things, there had to be a reason for it. Yes, this one would lead the gossips straight to ArtLife's doorstep.

There wasn't any gossip coming out of ArtLife these days, she had been trying to find sources but there was nothing. No one was talking, Serkan must have threatened them with their NDA's. No, she just needed to make them uneasy and keep chipping away at their foundations. Selin liked this new game she wondered why she hadn't thought of it earlier.

Adina opened her laptop early Friday morning and was greeted with a flood of requests for comment on the latest blind item that had appeared in the gossip column. She scrolled down to the link to the site that someone had attached and read the item.

'Are a CEO not of sound mind and girlfriend not of loyal body seeing their foundations hit rock bottom?'

"Sinan!" she yelled, "Get over here!"

He ran into the office, "What?"

She pointed to the laptop, "Our 'friend' has dropped another blind item. This one is intimating that Serkan is crazy and Eda is cheating on him and that they are breaking up. That woman is a menace. I've got at least twenty emails asking if this is about Serkan Bolat in my inbox. How should we respond."

Sinan was scrolling through his emails when he came across one from Ceren Basar, he opened it and scanned the contents. It made him smile. "Serkan has the sign-off from the doctor on the psych evaluation so we can safely say not our guy and we know Eda up until the point where Serkan came home was working 12-14 hour days so she had no time for funny business. Good luck with that. They're living together so how is that broken up? Let's put something together as a response to those emails. Have them review and okay it before release."

"How about this 'Thank you for your inquiry. Considering the injuries sustained in the accident Mr. Bolat has completed full physical and mental health evaluations to assure investors of his continued good health and passed with no issue. When reached for comment on today's blind item Mr. Bolat and his fiancé Ms. Yildiz thank you for your concern but they are not bothered by this nonsense. They are happily planning their wedding to take place within the next few weeks.' I can run this by Serkan and Eda this morning and they can make any changes."
