Lydia's POV

~~~
We are now driving back to the house, Rachel is taking a day off work to look after me, my father is at work but finishes earlier.
"Correct me if I am wrong, but did my daughter blush when you looked at her?" She asked me and I smile.
"I swear she did." I chuckle and she laughs. I did definitely see her cheeks go red.
"I accidentally walked in at the wrong time this morning, I saw you both. Is there something I don't know?" Rachel asked me and I shake my head, "She was holding you in her arms, you both were asleep and that is the happiest I have seen my daughter in a long time. Have you considered thinking about how she sees you?"
"No, not really." I lied and she sighed.
"Just be careful okay? She isn't like Ryan, so don't be scared with her, deep down she's wonderful, she searched the school for you Lydia, you are important to her. I also saw when she looked at you last night at tea with everyone, she cares." She told me and I look out of the window.
"What if I end up falling in love?" I whisper and Rachel looked at me as she drove on a quiet road, she only looked at me for a few seconds though, "I have known her for three years now, she has always been somewhere in my life and I guess we are good friends so there is a possibility of it happening at some point."
"If you end up falling in love, let yourself. She's there, she will be there for you and if she ends up feeling the same, treat her well. But if you do end up falling in love, it's Rea, she is clueless at all of that so give her time but tell me when you are, okay? Just be careful, love can be sweet and the best thing to happen, or love can be dangerous and toxic." She explains and I nod as I look back outside.
"Thank you." I smile and she hummed as she put on the radio, "Could we bake cookies? Me and my mum used to do that if I was off school."
"Of course." She smiles and I nod and look back out of the window at the passing trees.
The sun is now rising, the sky is a mix of orange and pink, it's beautiful but it is still freezing cold out there.
Soon enough, we arrived back at the house and parked up in the driveway and the two of us get out of the car. Rea's pyjamas are very comfortable.
We go into the house and I swap my trainers for a pair of fluffy slippers, Rachel puts some slippers on too and excuses herself to go get changed into more comfortable clothing. While she is upstairs, I sit down on the sofa since it is too early to bake cookies.
My phone vibrates in my pocket and I get it out and read the notification.
Luca: Heyyy, by the looks of it, you are taking time off school. Going to fill you in on details, Ryan dumped this blonde chick since he is in love with you, Rea had a fight with him because he treated you badly and he's a bad person. Anddd, school is lonely without you. Please come back tomorrow it's Tuesday and its lonely Tuesday, you love Wednesdays come on! Get better soon love you lots.
Me: Thank you for the information, I will see if I can come back tomorrow, tell Rea to stop fights her mum says so and go be friends with her, she needs someone (do it for me). Also, I don't care about Ryan he can do what he wants, it's his feelings that he still loves me, I don't love him anymore so there is nothing I can do about it.
Luca: Okay okay I shall! I am going to be shouted at for messaging you, I will talk to you later. Byeee have a good day.
Me: Same for you, goodbye love you too.
I put my phone back away into my pocket and then go back to putting something on the tv, I chose to watch just something that was random, The Simpsons.
Rachel soon came downstairs dressed in a hoodie and some joggers, she joined me on the sofa and we both sit and watch episodes of The Simpsons for a few hours.
We are now gathering ingredients for the cookies, double chocolate chip. While I was getting the flour and sugar, Rachel received a call and when she checked who it was she sighed.
"Hello?" She spoke into the phone and there was silence since the person on the opposite end was speaking, "I'll be there soon, thank you."
She ended the call before letting out a groan.
"Rea got into a fight, again. The school want me to go pick her up." She grabbed her keys, "You can stay here and bake if you want."
"Okay, thank you." I smile and she smiled back at me before leaving the house and locking the door. Her children get into too many fights it must be frustrating.
I finish getting everything from the cupboard and then started measuring everything and putting them into bowls. This family has money, a lot of money. They own around six cars, their house is twice the size of mine, their kitchen isn't huge but it isn't small.
Rachel works for a huge business, she owns it actually and she gets thousands of pounds a day, around £70 000 a week, £280 000 a month, £3 million a year. She told me once that she doesn't want to show off her money in a huge fancy house with expensive cars. She gives money to charities and splits some for her children and keeps a lot for bills and emergencies.
I pour the flour, cocoa powder and the baking soda into a bowl and mix them together and then put the egg and sugars and whisked them for a few minutes. I add some vanilla extract into the mix and mixed them together then a bag of chocolate chips. This is going to make a huge batch of cookies.
After leaving them to set for a minute or two, I start to get some of the batter before rolling it up into a ball and then putting it onto the tray. I did this another 12 times. This took around five minutes to do, I then put them into the oven and set a timer for ten minutes on my phone then started to wash up the equipment I used. Once I finished cleaning everything up, I had four minutes left on the timer so I quickly turned the try around and then go back to watching television in the living room.
Baking is one of my favourite things to do, I find it very calming and I used to do it a lot with my mum but we stopped when she had to go to hospital, I missed it a lot.
Four minutes later, I was getting the tray out of the oven and left them on the counter to cool down.
I waited another 15 minutes until they were cool, I head back over to the kitchen and get the cookies off from the tray and then put them onto a plate.
The front door soon unlocked telling me the two are back.
"Lydia, hi. Okay so I have been sent home because I got into a fight since this dude was being homophobic! That isn't fair." Rea falls back onto the sofa and I carry the plate of cookies over, offering Rachel one on the way who gladly took it.
"That wasn't fair. Did you win?" I ask as I sit down and she nods and took a cookie from the plate.
"These are really nice wow!" Rachel gasped and I laugh while looking over to her and smile.
We all sit down with the cookies on the coffee table and Rachel was right, they do taste delicious to say I made them off by memory.
The next few hours go past in a blur, then there was a knock at the door, Rachel goes over to open it.
"Lydia, your father is here!" Rachel says and I walk over to the door, looks like he is here to pick me up.
Rea walked over to the door and I did get changed earlier back into my other clothes and left her pyjamas on her bed for her.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" She asked me and I nod with a smile and she smiled before hugging me tightly and I hug her back.
We all said our goodbyes and then we left the house.
My father looks a lot more happy which is great.
