GOLIATH

She's gone somewhere and left us with Lucian and Daario who are speaking to one another about this and that. She loves these men and I can't help but feel anger climb into my stomach at that fact.

She couldn't be mine even though every physical facet of hers called to me. Her delicate round face, those plump lips, that undeniably fragile figure that curved deliciously...

Fuck.

"Oh stop!"

A feminine voice floats through the air. It's distant and I can tell that the faeries did not hear it because it's behind the wall. Their senses weren't as good as mine.

"I just want to meet him!"

"Your mate is going to kill you, Zielle."

"Oh hush, Adalind would never allow them onto our territory is she truly believed they were here to hurt us."

"How are you this pregnant and this fast?"

A very pregnant woman rounds the corner of the wrap-around balcony that we are on. Daario and Lucian immediately stop speaking and rush toward her. She pushes them away. Her eyes lock on mine and she smiles.

"Is that him? Or is it the other one?" She pushes her way through the Blood and Grandriders. "Which one of you does my Regent want to fuck?" Her hands land on her hips as she peers between all of us.

Slowly Grace points to me, a chuckle escaping her. I can feel the eyes of everyone on me.

The woman smiled. "I am Zielle. And you are?"

"Goliath."

"Goliath, I have a question for you."

"And that is?"

"Are you stupid?"

"Woah," Daario exclaims, stepping between the woman and me.

"Relax," I hiss. "I would never harm a pregnant woman." My eyes go from Daario to Zielle. "I like to think that I am smart."

"Then why do you ignore Adalind like she has the plague?"

"Zielle!"

The woman freezes, a sigh rising through her chest. She turns as a male runs toward his and pushes her behind him. "Are you out of your mind?"

"I am fine," she says exasperated.

The man pinches the bridge of his nose. "I...did my pregnant mate just ask the Beta of wolves if he's stupid?"

"He's not the Beta of wolves, he's the King Regent," she argues.

I'm not. I would never be.

"No, he's not, Zielle. And he is dangerous. You cannot put yourself in harm's way."

"Zielle, Alejandro," another voice interrupts. I recognize that voice from anywhere. Adalind walks through the double doors that lead back into her office. Behind her are more men that I have never met before. They follow close behind her as she comes onto the terrace.

Zielle and Alejandro bow and she takes both into her arms. "How are you feeling, Zielle?"

The sun seems to brighten at her presence. A summer wind picks up and rushes through her hair. The smell of her is almost my undoing.

"Like an elephant," she groans.

I can tell by the way they interact that Adalind is close to this soon-to-be-mother. "Thank you for coming, although I wish you would have waited for me to escort you." Adalind looked over at Grace. "This is Zielle. She's a healer. She's going to remain nearby in case Daario and Goliath require medical attention when they return. She has the unique ability to detect illness."
