cement heart

Those thoughts that I could never get away from visited me last night.

They were deadly and brought their knives.

With each stab, they laughed with delight.

Up with the bottle,

Down with your name.

Pain full throttled,

I could never regain my sane.

Make my eyes bleed

And my lungs drown,

You as my need.

Your scent still hanging around.

Out of sight but forever in my mind.

Let my bones and heart erode.

Trade my soul for wings that never did grow.

These thoughts left their mark on my skin,

Not too deep, not too thin.

Bruise and keep me weak,

Hands tied but your mouth still speaks.

Run against the wind,

Before your storm begins.

This is my only home

Pain set as the stone.

No light in this shelter

Forces me to remain alone.

Your faded memory and I will forever dance together.

Broken down and withered.
