Drifting down the road,
My mind is my only company.
No place set in my head,
No place that would welcome me.
The sky is clear tonight.
Let me map out the stars.
The greater my desire,
The farther you are.
Thoughts travel faster,
I hope they won't ruin their stay.
I'm running out of gas,
You're too far away.
I cannot go any farther,
So I park myself off to the side.
Out of anyone's sight,
This is where I'll hide.
Getting help is not my objective,
I'd rather be alone.
You're my designation,
But I'm on my own.
This drive can only take me so far,
Soon I will have to stop.
I'm chasing something mythical,
Shielded at the highest top.
The truth is,
This road is a dead end.
With every twist and turn,
Make my wheels run with the bend.
My need is growing,
I'm almost flying now.
My brake does not exist,
Going as fast as it will allow.
I'm running a little late,
So you'll lock your door.
I will finally arrive,
Only to find my presence is no more.
I'm disappointed by this sight.
There is another parked in my spot.
I told you I would be here soon,
Only to find that you forgot.
