Just A Glimpse

Eyes truly are the windows to the soul.
I see everything your body hides,
All the hate on the outside,
Clinging to your body like mold.
Hate cakes your body,
Rejecting every single sorry.
But I can still see it all hiding in your tears.
The ones that can't break free in front of me.
You let them take walks on your face,
As soon as you lock yourself in our old special place.
Your eyes let your feelings dance wild,
Even though I cannot see any sign,
Or any glimpse of our past,
Because you shut me out too fast.
You know I can see you're vulnerable,
But our eyes are inseparable.
They dance across the room together
Until we break them apart.
So I'll put miles between us
We'll play this one out smart.
Out of our own mistrust,
We'll keep our thoughts at bay.
This is where our souls will stay.
