Chapter 14

Xavier's pov:

Leaving Wednesday's room after talking to Thing, he confesses that girls' night was just a cover-up. Wednesday tricked them into going to the Gates mansion to find more clues on the monster. Having a gut feeling, Thing decides to come with me to search for them.

The whole walk there, I can't stop thinking about my last conversation with Nikova. Guilt consumes me as I replay her apology in my mind. When she said she understood if I wanted to break up, I wanted to reassure her that I would never leave her. She's everything to me.

It was all a misunderstanding. When I told her to stop, I was just nervous that I wouldn't be enough for her. I was intimidated when she said she liked it when I talked dirty, but in reality, I only said those things because I heard them in a movie. Even the spanking and riding my face part, it was all from a movie. Yeah, she was a virgin, but she knew what she was doing. I had no clue.

She looked crushed when she apologized for thinking she was pressuring me into having sex with her. She had no idea how much I wanted her. And I never got the chance to tell her because Enid dragged her away before I could.

So here I am in the woods late at night, looking for her so I can explain that there's no way I would ever think about breaking up with her. I play with the silver metal in my pocket as Thing stands on my shoulder. He flicks my head to get my attention.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a gift for Nikova," I respond when he asks what's in my pocket.

Thing then asks to see the gift, which I'm hesitant about.

"Fine, but don't laugh." I pull out a small box and open it to reveal a ring. The ring was simple with a red oval cut diamond.

Thing then starts slapping me in the head. "It's a promise ring not an engagement one." I say urgently.

He immediately stops to look down at the ring and tells me she's gonna love it. " I saw it one day in town before we were even together. It reminded me of her, and I just had to get it. Somehow I just knew she was the one for me." I smile to myself.

Thing keeps calling me whipped the whole way to Gates mansion, but I'm too busy focused on finding Nikova. We see the gate open, and I make my way inside. My body comes to a stop when I hear people screaming Nikova's name. Before I realize it, I'm running towards their direction in a panic. I first see Wednesday kneeling down as Enid and Tyler stand behind her in shock. I don't see him at first, but Leo then comes out from behind Tyler.

I look towards their shocked stare on the floor, and my heart breaks. Laying on the floor is Nikova, looking lifeless. Her face is covered in blood, and I finally notice the blood coming from her torso.

"Do you have a car!?'" I yell out to Tyler.

"Yeah, it's just outside the gate," He responds.

"Okay, let's go. We need to take her to the hospital now!" I don't wait for their response as I pick up her body and run towards the car.

"Your gonna be okay." I keep whispering to her over and over again but she's remains unconscious.

Finally I make it to the car and we all get in quickly. I sit in the back and lay Nikova on Wednesday and Enid laps. Tyler speeds to the hospital not caring about speeding when he hears me call out that she's loosing to much blood. He finally makes it and I immediately get out with Nikovas body and rush inside.

"Please help! She's lost a lot of blood! Please!" I yell in a panic. Nurses soon rush around me and bring out a bed for her to lay on. They don't wasted time and begin moving her into surgery. I go to follow them but a male nurse tells me to wait it the next room.

I sit beside Enid who hasn't stopped shaking. Placing my hand on her shoulder she turns to me with red eyes. I look to the side and see Wednesday staring at the floor emotionless. Thing sits on the chair next to her looking gloomy. Tyler's standing near the door on the phone probably talking to his dad. And Leo's no where to be found. He came with us in the car but I look around and see that he's gone.

"Where's Leo?" I ask Tyler when he come to sit next to Wednesday.

"He left when I went to park the car." He responds

"Good because I don't want him here. His ass belongs in jail for what he did to Nikova." I spat.

They all look at me confused for my outburst.

"What did he do to her?" Wednesday questioned.

I realize she didn't tell them and they had no clue what type of person they've been hanging around with.

"He's obsessed with her. After she told him they weren't ever going to be together he choked her and left all these bruises around her neck. That's why she kept wearing Enids snood because it was the only thing to cover them." I admit feeling my anger resurface.

"What!" They all yell in sync.

"I thought she told you. She's terrified of him." I answer looking at each of them.

"She didn't say anything. I've been treating her like crap and now she's here because of me." Wednesday cried out shocking all of us.

"It's not your fault. It's the monsters. First Eugene and now Nikova. She saved us. Without her we both could be dead." Enid spoke to Wednesday.

"W-what if she's d-dead?" Wednesday stutters.

"She's gonna make it." I instantly respond.

A female nurse comes up to us ending our conversation.

"The sheriff just arrived and told us the patients name. Are any of you family of Nikova Addams?" The nurse questions looking at our bloody clothes.

"I'm her sister." Wednesday gets up.

"I contacted your parents and their on there way. She was rushed into surgery, so when they get here tell them to come to the front to sign some papers." Wednesday nods and the nurse turns a leaves.

When Nikovas parents and brother arrived they were all in distress, even more after hearing what happened. It was a waiting game, and after 2 hours we still had no news on Nikova. Tyler's dad came to take our statement and called Weems to inform her on what happened. Weems came to escort us back to Nevermore but we all refused. She was going to expel all of us but after looking at our horrible state she settled on a 2 weeks of detention with no more off campus privileges for the rest of the year.

The waiting room was silent and I could tell the others were panicking about why we haven't heard any news. My mind started thinking of the worst thing imaginable but soon my mind eases when the doctor comes out to give us news.

"Are you family of Nikova Addams?" The doctor questions the room?

"Yes, we're her parents? How is she doctor?" Mrs. Addams says as her and Mr. Addams get up from their seat.

The doctor looked hesitant to say anything but after looking at all our eager faces he complies. "She had a rib fracture and lost a lots of blood. We managed to close the stab wound on her torso but during surgery her heart stoped for a few seconds." Everyone looks panicked at waiting for him to continue "We managed to get her heart beating again and but she's currently recovering in a coma state."

"Shes in a coma?" I question in disbelief.

"Will she wake up?" Mr. Addams questions next.

"Yes, eventually she will wake up but it's up to her when that would be. It could a in the next few days,weeks, or months." The doctors says leaving us all in shock. After answering a few more of her parents questions the doctor left.

We all sat in silence taking in the news, Nikovas parents soon told her brother the news and he didn't take it well. He started crying into their mothers shoulders and my eyes quickly started to water feeling his exact pain. I felt a panic attack emerging,  so I got up from my seat and went to get some fresh air. I wasn't a believer in God but in the moment I was praying that Nikova wouldn't take a long time to wake up.
