The tulkun coming home was one of the most eventful things to have happened in the village since the Sully family arrived, and we all made sure to make the most of their return. Each day that passed, we all spent our time alternating between our duties and playing with our spirit-siblings. Our group had also taken the time to meet Payakan, getting to know him without any judgement. I realised how much it really meant to Lo'ak to see us all trying for him, and something else I had realised was how much Tsireya and Lo'ak's bond had flourished in the past few days.
If Reya hadn't have told me about their kiss, I would have figured it out soon enough. Lo'ak was much softer with her, much more open, and their relationship was sky-rocketing because of it. The girl was happier than ever, and Lo'ak seemed much calmer overall. He was actually letting Neteyam in to an extent, listening to his heedings whenever there was one. It was nice to see their relationship so strong, and it touched my heart to see how much it meant to Lo'ak having his brother there for him.
With everyday that passed, the Sully's were seen more as part of the clan. People were really starting to take to them, forgetting about who they were and the fact that they were different to us. From both being Omatikaya people and for everyone except Neytiri to have Sky People blood. People seemed to embrace it rather then hold it against them, and the older kids were starting to be given small duties in the clan to help out.
Even now, while we were all sat for dinner people didn't shy away from them. They were all chatting amongst themselves, talking to Jake like they had known him for years. Even little Tuk had found some friends around her age and was sat with them for dinner, keeping her family in her eyesight while she embraced the 'new kids'.
Neytiri was still struggling with the change, but I think she was starting to enjoy her time here now. She and Ronal weren't at eachother's throats constantly like they had been, and some of the other mothers to Tuk's friends had tried to make her feel welcome with them. It didn't surprise me that she was still struggling to adapt, they had only been here for 16 days now in comparison to the 30+ years she spent in her hometree.
Right now she was telling me all about the demolition of her hometree, and how Jake had lead their clan to victory as Toruk Makto. I had heard the story a fair few times over the years, it was something legendary to each of the clans as we had all been involved in the first war with the Sky People, but hearing it from Neytiri's perspective was intruiging. She was there, in the heart of it all. She had witnessed first hand every single decision, every breaking point and the moment they finally drove the Sky People back to Earth.
"When I saw Jake riding Toruk, I finally saw hope for my people. My great-great grandfather had been the fifth Toruk Makto and I had heard the stories passed down about how he had managed to unite all the clans once more. I knew Ma-Jake would do him justice, even if he was only an Avatar. I had taught him first hand how to be a Na'vi, and knew he was more than capable of leading all of the Na'vi together. However I hadn't expected the extent at which he would, and that is what will make his story one of the most known throughout Na'vi history," Neytiri finishes, smiling proudly up at her husband. Jake wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her into his body, kissing her forehead a few times as she laughed.
It was a beautiful kind of love that Neteyam's parents shared; I felt blessed to have not one, but two couples who shared an incredible bond that outgrew any kind of love I had ever seen. It was something to look up to, to inspire me, and having both families hold me so close to their hearts made it even more remarkable to see up close.
"Did she start with the 'When I first met him, I wanted to kill him' part?" Jake asks, nudging her with a laugh. I nod my head and giggle, blushing at the feeling of Neteyam's hand on the small of my back. It was so innocent, so light, that nobody would notice. But it was enough to make me smile, to make my whole body rise in butterflies.
