I silently crossed the room to my bed and sat down beside Neteyam's sleeping body. I place my new presents beside the pile of the others and gently nudge the man, kissing his shoulders as I rubbed his back. Neteyam's eyes groggily open, looking at me with surprise as he rolls onto his back. "Shit, did I fall asleep?" He asks, sitting himself upright as he looked around. I nod my head with a smile as I take one of his hands into my lap, putting them together as I took in how much bigger they really were then mine. "What time is it? I didn't sleep for long right?! I haven't wasted your birthday right?!" He asks, his eyes goig wide as he thinks he has.
"No, no..." I shush him, taking his face in my hands, "I've just gotten back from Tsireya's. You've only been out for like 20 minutes max." I tell him, stroking my thumb over his cheek. He nods his head and rubs his eyes as I turn around to look at Tsireya and Lo'ak, who now had a little space between them while they held hands. Reya mouths a 'Thankyou', making me smile and nod my head, knowing why.
"I'm assuming you guys have been conspiring behind my back on what we're gonna do today then," I say to them all, feeling Neteyam's hand place itself on my thigh affectionately. They all shake their heads, looking to the other if they had planned anything. "Nope, we haven't." Tsireya says. "I was thinking about just doing whatever you wanted, we planned this morning for you and I was sure there was gonna be specific things you wanted to do." Neteyam says groggily behind me, pushing himself to his feet.
I pause to think for a second, having nothing pressing on my mind to do today. "There isn't really anything I wanna do, I'm down for anything. Maybe we could go out on the Ikran. Or go swimming, but we do do that everyday. I just wanna spend the day with you guys, I'm happy for anything." I finally say, looking to my small group around me.
We were all so diferent and yet so similar.
Sometimes I forgot that Lo'ak was still only 16. Sure, soon he would be 17, but by that time Aonung, Tsireya and Kiri would be 18 already too. He was surprisingly mature for his age, sometimes. He had his moments, we were all aware of them, but for the most part he seemed no younger then us at all. He was a lot more confident then the rest of us, he wasn't afraid to say what either needed to be said or whatever was on his mind, whereas the rest of us would hesitate.
Neteyam held the older, caring part of the group. He was the one that would console you, help you with whatever you needed and would be your partner in crime.
Tsireya held the wisdom and gentleness. She knew everything, mostly from being around her parents so much, and would teach you anything. And she could be so kind and so gentle with you, though if you pissed her off she would make it known.
And me, well I didn't entirely know what I brought to the group. Maybe I was the glue that brought us all together, or perhaps I was the comedic relief. I wasn't entirely sure.
"Tsireya still hasn't been on an Ikran yet," Lo'ak says, picking up on the idea. "I haven't," She admits, nodding her head. "Let's go on an Ikran ride." Neteyam smiles, looking to the group. We all jump to our feet, getting ready to leave the Pod. I go to my presents and grab the visor Lo'ak gave me, then run to catch up with the others that had already left.
Tsireya seemed excited to go on the Ikran, and I was estatic. I may not have been too fond of it at first, but I ended up loving the adrenaline rush it gave me with every twist and turn. And I knew Tsireya would probably feel the same way I did, though it would take her a little longer to get there.
When we got to the Ikran they looked more than happy to see the boys, the two of them heading over to their creature to give them some much needed attention. I held Tsireya back and explained to her not to look in its eye until Lo'ak had made the Tsaheylu, and soon enough they were calling us over. I skip up to Eyzae and pet his head, the creature remembering me from last time and licking my arm again. He seemed happy to be petted and rested his head on my arm, giving me a chance to scratch his chin which made his head roll from side to side in satisfaction.
