The Outage

It wasn't even a dark and stormy night. It was clear and eventless. Well that was until the earth shook. Along with this all lights went out and a large amount of bulbs shattered across the globe simultaneously. It was enough to terrorize all; women, children and even men. The mysterious black out seemed to have come from the earthquake. Now the earthquake itself didn't seem to have a logical point of origin.  Scientist traced it to the atmosphere. Their claims were that of a madman and people scoffed in their direction. They were stripped of their titles and awards they had earned in their lifetime. The black out continued. The days turned into weeks. From there, weeks into months.  People slowly began to accept the anomaly for what it was, though it was only after multiple attempts to restore power had failed. Unfortunately, the scientist who had done their best to warn the people and save them from the ignorance of the civilians were silenced, those who wouldn't cooperate, disappeared. The people realized too late and that caused their demised.
