It was almost completely silent throughout the house that night. The only noise was the sound of the rain beating down against the window. Diya was sitting in her living room reading a random book from her bookshelf that sat in the corner of the dimly lit room, while enjoying the soothing sound the rain gave when she heard a knock at the door.
Setting her book down on the side of the couch, she stood up and wandered across the room to her front door; slightly confused as to why someone was knocking on her door so late at night. As she approached the door, the knocking stopped suddenly. Now more confused, she cracked the door slightly, looking outside into the damp, dark streets. Not seeing anyone, she called out into the darkness of the wet street "Hello, is anyone out here?"
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a slight movement from the bushes. Sighing, she turned around and slammed the door behind her as she walked back into her house.
Mumbling to herself as she trudged across the room back to her now cold spot on the couch, "Damn kids, why are they even out this late anyway and on a rainy day at that," reaching for her book, she came to grasp at emptiness, confused she looks around the couch not finding her now missing book.
The knocking starts again, this time harsher than the last. Getting frustrated and angry, she shouts at the door, "Shut up and go home! Its too late for this!" The knocking continues for a few more minutes, and then suddenly stops. Frustrated now, she continues looking for her missing book. She leans over the side of the couch, looking under to see if the book fell under the couch. when she sees a shadow in the corner of the room moving and shoots up and stares at the spot for a minute before the knocking starts again, slowly turning into pounding on the door.
She stands up feeling anxious, and wanders back to her front door and opens it just a sliver, only to see her book drenched by the rain and sitting on her front step. Looking up from the book on the ground, she spots the same shadowy figure from before out of the corner of her eye. Noticing this, she slams the door, leaving the book on the porch and runs to her bathroom, closing the bathroom door behind her and locking it before climbing into the tub and hiding.
Then the pounding knock starts again, but this time on her bathroom door. Terrified, she yells "Go away!" at the door before the once locked door opens, causing her to let out a terrified scream.
