A/N: okay so I'm going to start off by saying I honestly had no clue what the gift of the magi was before this and I honestly don't like the restraints I had of this story which I'd why I added a dark twist to it. Also if your reading this sand like I did didn't know what the story was I'm just going to say google it and that it's a story based on irony. There is also some references to some of my previous story's and some writing prompts along with some things I'm just known for in this story (in this class I am known for what I did to that poor toy chicken so I just had to include it)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
       Walking down the narrow stone path in the dimly lit underground market, Alex tread down a familiar route that he often took when he came here with his sister.
       Straying from his path, Alex approaches a small shop that looks run down with all sorts of odd things lining the window.
      Walking into the shop, he notices the odd things scattered around the store. A pair of taxidermied squirrels one with neon cape and the other with a crown, a worn book that looks like it had been left in the rain for days, a toy chicken with bandages wrapped around where its wings were meant to be and many other oddities scattered around. a case of rings catches Alex's attention from the corner of his eye, and he immediately knew he had to get his sister thoes rings.
       Noticing the ding of the bell signifying that someone had entered the shop, the old woman behind the counter looks up and is met with; what was in her opinion was the most beautiful set of eyes.
      She stares at Alex the entire time he is looking around the shop and would occasionally compliment things like his eye color, and eye shape.
        Ignoring the odd compliments and stares, Alex approches the old lady behind the counter and askes about the rings, but the old lady refuses his payment saying that her shop is special and that she only does trades, but she is willing to give him the whole case along with a promised ride home in exchange for his eyes.
       He considers it for a few moments and decides that it would be a good trade, considering he was already struggling with his eyesight in the first place, and agrees.
       Alex follows the old lady as she picks up a bloodied rusty spoon from the back counter and leads him to the back of the shop into a locked room.
       Alex's screams could be heard throughout the market that night, but it was such a regular occurrence especially coming from that specific shop, that nobody questioned the screams nor did they even care.
       Arriving at home, after a silent car ride with a stranger whom Alex had assumed was the old lady at the shop's driver; Alex walks into his and his sisters house to be met with the sound of his sisters humming, coming from the direction of kitchen.
       Hearing Alex come into the house, his sister, Sasha calls out to him and and tells him that his gift is on the table and to open it without her, while she finishes up with what she is doing. Alex moves his hands around the table until he found a small wrapped box and slowly opens the gift and feels around it to find an object that feels like a pair of glasses.
      Alex calls out for Sasha telling her that he's sorry but he can't use the glasses. When Sasha comes into the room to ask why, she is met with the sight of Alex with a Cloth wrapped around his eyes.
      Alex gives Sasha the case of rings and tells her how he got them, only for Sasha to tell him that she can't wear them because she did the exact same thing he did for the glasses but sold her hands instead.
      Both of the siblings learned a lesson that day, and there was a silent agreement between them to never go to that market ever again.
      Meanwhile, an old lady sits behind the counter at her shop admiring the two new jars that were the new additions to her collection, one smaller one with eyeballs floating in a strange liquid, and another larger jar where two feminine looking hands adorned with all different types of rings were floating in the same substance as the eyeballs.
