Wandering down the narrow lanes and looking down at the dead device in his hand, Alex had realized that he had absolutely no idea where he was. After all, getting left at an old abandoned maze was not what he had been expecting when his sister and her girlfriend invited him to go along with them and a couple of their other friends, whom he had never met before to some random party out in the middle of nowhere.
Alex knew he never should have agreed to go with them in the first place; he had always been quite an anxious and fearful person, and interacting with new people was never really his thing. He couldn't help but feel relieved, because while his current situation wasn't ideal. he still somehow found it was a better alternative to where his sister most likely was, in that moment.
Hardly being able to see very much other than a few feet in front of him because of the dense fog, he noticed that he had wandered deeper into the maze while lost in his own thoughts.
Alex turned around to try and see if he could find his way out, but was met with a face-full of the hedges. Realizing he was way too lost to do anything but continue, he decided to just keep walking, seeing as there was no way he would be able to get through the hedges by himself.
By this point Alex had no clue how long he had been in this maze, but he was exhausted and starting to feel like he was going in circles. Deciding he had enough of walking, he sat down to take a break and rest his eyes.
Opening his eyes, Alex looked around the area he was and realized he was in a different part of the never-ending maze. The area around him was more overgrown than where he had originally fallen asleep; the fog was lighter and the air felt clearer. Deciding that an exit must be somewhere nearby, Alex got up and continued walking through the hedges searching for an exit.
While searching hastily through the unkept hedges for an exit, Alex trips over something and falls. Getting up to look at what he tripped over, he hears heaving breathing behind him, before noticing that what he tripped over were human remains; before he can run away or even turn around to see what's behind him, he feels a blunt force against the back of his skull and everything went dark.
