Weeks soon passed, and you led a safe recovery.
During that time, Scaramouche was especially attentive to your needs. He often neglected his harbinger duties to make sure you were doing well, and didn't leave until you forced him out.
It wasn't until weeks later that you found out Scaramouche had stayed awake the entire five days you were unconscious. The only time he had slept was when you woke up, and even then he was still stressed.
"You stayed awake for five days?!" You shouted, not knowing whether to be angry or be in shock. The two of you were sitting around a table, just having finished a conversation about a joint mission with Pulcinella's division.
"Yeah? And?" Scaramouche rolled his eyes, brushing it off as if it was nothing. "I don't need to do petty human activities such as sleeping." He scoffed in an arrogant voice.
"Weren't you sleeping when I woke up...?" You pondered mentally to yourself, amused he was playing it off so well. However, it was then that something struck your head, "...You're not a human?"
Scaramouche stared at you with a bewildered expression, "Is this a joke?"
You gave an awkward grin, "...Of course it is."
This was completely new information to you.
Or... you forgot about it. You had a feeling that there was a crucial bit of information about Scaramouche at the end of the Inazuma archon quest, yet you were unable to pinpoint what it was. You knew that you read it, yet the memories were blurry. The only pieces of information about Scaramouche that you could fully remember were his short appearances in quests prior to the end of Inazuma. You were also able to remember a small bit of his backstory of being abandoned by his mother, but the reason why and how you got that information was unknown to you. Let alone the rest of his story.
Parts of the Sumeru archon quest were fuzzy in your mind too, as if being prevented from your knowledge. It was frustrating because you had no idea why.
Scaramouche let out a deep sigh, "I was never human, doll."
"Then, what are you?" You asked bluntly.
Perhaps it was too blatant, as Scaramouche went silent soon after you asked. You shifted your gaze elsewhere, wanting to move the conversation along as you felt you ruined the mood.
Just then, Scaramouche spoke slowly, "I am a puppet, created as a vessel to hold the divine gnosis of the Electro Archon."
Oh. So, the mother that abandoned him was...
"How did you end up in the Fatui, Scara?" You questioned, your voice soft as you didn't want to come off as too pushy.
Scaramouche responded, and for a moment you could sense the slight hesitance in his voice, "...I was regarded as too weak and abandoned without the heart I was made for. After that, I-" He seemed as though he was going to add on, but he cut himself off. "Something happened, and I was recruited into the Fatui. It was nothing big."
