Lori's POV

Disoriented. All my senses were disoriented as I slowly began to regain consciousness. My vision was blurred and hearing muffled by an intense ringing. I couldn't feel anything around me, taste the blood and sweat which dropped across my lips or smell the rotting flesh which tried to pry its way through the cracked windshield. Let alone the steam which came from the overturned car.

A faint growl attempted to reach my ears through the ringing which resonated from my ear drums. A blurred vision tried to break through my confused haze. But all failed, until I blinked. Not once. Not twice. Three times. Three blinks and that's when everything came rushing back to me, hitting me like a bag of bricks.

An ear piercing scream left my chapped lips as my vision finally processed what it was trying so hard to focus on before. My nose made the same connection as did my ears. All these alerts which my body was desperately trying to inform my brain about finally rang a blaring alarm noise in my head, my instinct to fight for survival kicking in.

Bashing against the broken windshield of the car was a walker desperately trying to pry his way through the cracks in the glass. Glancing to my right I see Y/n dangling from her seat still unconscious. "Y/n!" I called out only to be met with no response. I looked around me once again, seeing Y/n's .50GS on the floor behind my seat.

I instantly got up and started to reach for the gun; however the walker was able to pry its head and an arm through the broken windshield. Its skin on its face tore away the more it forced itself through the glass. It ignored Y/n reaching straight for me and pulling on my hair.

Another scream left my lips as I tried to pry myself away from the thing. Unable to do so my hand rummaged around below me trying to find anything that I could use to kill this thing. I felt something metal touch my fingers. I laced my fingers around it and with another scream plunged it into the skull of the walker through its eye socket. The creature fell limp, its grip on my hair loosening as I was now able to move away from the dead man.

I climbed over the seats leaving Y/n in the car while I tried to figure out what I would do next. I climbed out of the boot of the car letting out a huff of relief after avoiding a close call. Though once my guard was dropped and I stood staring at the car unsure what to do: this window of opportunity allowed another walker to stumble up behind me.

First I heard its growl then felt its grip as it tackled with me pulling my jacket off as I shimmed out its grip. I tried to kick its leg from under itself but ended up sending both of us to the ground.

It's dead hands latched onto my ankles trying to pull my foot to its mouth. I kicked and army crawled away, trying to get to the wheel trim that had fallen off the car and use it to hit the Walker away. During my struggle I had been so busy on my own survival that I hadn't noticed or heard the sounds of fast footsteps approaching.

Not until I saw a pair of military combat boots and familiar camouflage trousers stood before me. Following this sight was a loud pop as a gun sound resonated through the somewhat dead silence of the night.

Looking up I saw Y/n panting heavily as she dropped her hand with the gun and her other hand held her ribs. The H/c haired girl stumbled over and lent against the car letting out a hiss of pain. Standing up I walked to her concern lacing my features.
