Tauriel POV
Everythings fine.
Thats what she had told the King.
Everything's fine.
It had been a lie when he asked how Legolas and she were.
Everythings fi-
Nothing was fine. So many emotions.
Pain, confusion, love for the prince, desire for his love, sorrow in knowing it would never happen.....help me. I am drowning in feelings I am not supposed to have!
She took a deep breath. "Calm yourself," she scolded, "you need not feel any of this, you need not love him."
"Tauriel, come. I need you to lead a patrol," a familiar voice called. Legolas walked over to where she stood, by a pillar in the great halls of Mirkwood. Sh whirled at his voice.
"Yes Legolas." The calm in her voice was a lie. She brushed past him and called to the several assembled Elves. "Do you have your bows? Knives? Swords?"
They all responded with a "Yes" for at least one weapon call.
"Where do we go?" She asked Legolas.
"Go one mile from where we last partroled."
She frowned, "spiders are near there."
"We are testing to see how far they will go. Leave and come back before the time of two hours is up.".
"How far they will come to attack us?" she questioned. "You are risking many lives to do this."
He turned away from her. "We must take risks."
She tried to argue but he walked away.
It seemed he was becoming more solemn already.
Everything is fine.
The trees loomed over her like spirits. Every noise was an enemy to her. She was jumpy and worried as they slowly moved, making no sound. The longbow was in her hand and her heart was in her throat, fear in her blood, bravery in her limbs.
A crack of a branch. She and the Elves whirrled around at face their arrows into the trees. She saw it first and released the arrow.
A spider fell with it sticking through its head.
Immediatly at least one hundred more swung from the trees. Tauriel signaled for the archers to draw and shoot. Several fell dead with each round of shots but more came. "Retreat!" She screamed as a spider moved to attack her. She shot through its heart.
The Elves moved back and she lingered for only moments, watching the spiders.
Go. Leave. This is not you're place.
The Elves stumbled back, bleeding and tired. Tauriel was beyond exhuated for some reason. She was not injured but for a scrape on her cheek. But when she reached the halls where Legolas waited, she colasped onto the base of one of the many pillars.
"Tauriel! Are you alright?" He asked, rushing to her.
"I am fine, just..tired. I do not know why."
"Alright."
"I am fine. The others....some are more injured than me. Most are. Help them."
"They are fine."
"Thank you."
"It is fine. Go to your chambers, wash and rest."
