22: a day in the college
Alt. Title: Satoru is dead when he returns"People have been going missing in a company?"
"That's what I heard," Shoko Ieiri leaned at the back of her office chair, head tilted up as she stared at an upsidedown Yua Shihori. "Anyway, Satoru asked if you could supervise the kids for him tomorrow. He told me to tell you since he was afraid you'll cut his dick off if he shows himself."
In an instant, Shihori snapped the pen in two. He threw them into the bin beside his feet and grabbed another one to continue checking on the college's inventory list.
Recalling the day he arrived back from the so-called vacation, Shihori wanted nothing more than to murder his dear childhood friend in cold blood.
Ha, vacation.
What an eventful vacation that had been.
Ieiri noticed her little junior coworker's eerie smile, as if he was possessed by a malicious spirit. She rolled her eyes. She refused to get involved with their nonsense.
In fact, she'd rather watch on the sidelines. Maybe even call Mei-mei and start a bet with her or something.
...
Yua Shihori stretched his limbs. From the time he arrived at school, he had been working on managing the college's financial assets and inventories. There was still a stack left, four inches thick at least. He wondered if he could finish them before midnight.
Fuck, this is supposed to be Satoru's work. Why'd he have to accept a mission abroad?! And did he really have to leave tomorrow? That rat's just avoiding me! When that rat comes back, he's going to strangle him until Satoru's left with one breath!
"Hori-san."
Shihori straightened his back in a blink of an eye. A certain youth stood by the door, an angelic smile curved on his lips. The nurse almost fell off the chair, but fortunately, he regained his bearings. "Yuuta-kun, shouldn't you be eating lunch with Maki and the rest? It's lunch time, right?"
Instead of answering, the youth entered the clinic, a rather empty place most of the time aside from Ieiri and Shihori. A lunchbox wrapped in cloth rested on the palm of his hand and he set it down right next to the stack of paper on Shihori's desk.
"Hori-san, lunch is done. I thought you might haven't eaten yet so I brought you this."
"Huh?" Shihori glanced at the wall clock, surprised to find that it was actually already ten past four. "Must have been too busy trying to finish these papers. I don't want to do them for the rest of the week so I'm trying to finish them in one go."
Yuuta blinked, then frowned. "You shouldn't overwork yourself; what if you get sick, Hori-san?" A hand reached out and cupped the nurse's cheek.
Frozen by this touch, Shihori almost forgot to answer. "I worked as a nurse. This is nothing-" he cut himself off, seeing Yuuta's unchanging smile and, instead, the so-called nurse reached for the wrapped lunchbox. He ate it in silence, right under Yuuta's watch.
Meanwhile, behind the door, peeking through the small gap and whispering among themselves...
Maki: "Holy shit, he tamed Hori. THAT Hori who takes no one's bullshit?"
Panda: "I knew spring had arrived for Yuuta-kun, I didn't think it would be this fast."
Inumaki: "Shake."
Megumi: "... uncle looks so obedient now. He's usually scowling because of sensei. Smiling evilly by default every day."
Itadori: "He's like a child on timeout or something. It's kinda funny."
