Coming clean

Today was the day, the day me and Tonowari come clean to his parents, I knew this was going to get messy but I just wanted to feel safe and secure when I was with him, not the feeling of him possibly slipping through my fingers at any moment

"Are you ready for this my love?" He asked as we stood in my pod

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be" I said but I couldn't mask the anxiety I was feeling

He just looked at me with a sweet smile, tucking my hair away from my face, recasting his hand in my cheek

"I love you so much y/n I will follow you wherever you may go, all I want is for you to be happy, I will make you happy" he leaned down gently placing a kiss to my forehead

What did I do to deserve this man

"I love you too Tonowari" I didn't know what to do with these feelings they were bubbling up and I felt bad for making him do this, for hurting his relations with the others of the tribe

"Let's go get this over with ya?"

"Okay let's go" he held my hand guiding me through the path between pods until we reached his families home

We entered seeing his mother and father, they seemed to be arguing but went quiet when we entered, not already in a good mode, that's not a good sign

His mother glanced at our hands intertwined and glared

"What is the meaning of this? I thought I told you to stay away from her" she stated her voice getting more aggressive and louder by the second, she was fuming

"Mother...father we need to talk and this time please just listen"

"What is it son?" His father asked in a more calm tone

"I can not stay away from y/n, she the light of my life she makes every moment better, she helps me when I have problems, shes a shoulder to cry on when I feel overwhelmed, she's the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on and even when I'm not with her I feel her there with me, I know I'm suppose to be mated to Ronal but I cannot, I will not push aside the one I'm truly meant to be with" he huffed out of breathe by the time he was done, I could feel his hand was clammy

I could see a slight smile on his fathers face, he seemed to be where Tonowari got his sweet romantic personality from

"Have you mated with this forest dweller?" His mother asked

He squeezed my hand before saying "Yes, we are mated before Eywa, she is mine forever and I am hers so you will have to either get use to this or.....we will leave" he stated standing his ground

She huffed out and rubbed her temples

"You disappoint me son, you went against everything we've planned for you but since you're mated there's nothing I can do, but she will have to be taught Tsahik ways, me and Ronal will teach her every evening, I will not go easy on you" she glared then left the pod

His father came and stood infront of us

"Son I'm proud of you for following your heart, I don't know when your mother grew so cold but she use to be romantic and in love like this, I'm sorry she's acting like this but I'm glad you've found someone as kind as her"

He then looked at me

"Welcome to the clan my daughter in law" he smiled as he left after his wife

Tonowari looked down at me with a huge smile on his face, he picked me up by my waist and spun me around, holding me close

"We can finally be together, I told you everything would be fine my love" he said grasping the back of my head, pulling me into the longest sweetest kiss, he pulled away huffing as he placed his forehead against mine

"Should we tell your friends?" I asked

"Not right now, right now I just want to be with you"
