I woke up and the first thing I did was check the time.
6:37 am
Then I remembered that Jevon is here so I got out of bed and went to the guest room to wake him up if he isn't already awake.
The door was half opened and he was lying across the bed in his underpants and socks.
Instead of just walking in, I decided to knock.

I was sleeping peacefully until I heard a knock on the door. I opened my eyes and realized that I'm in the guest room of what is now Krissann's home. Then I remembered that I was tipsy last night so she demanded that I sleep here. I looked towards the half opened door and saw her standing there in a two piece sleepwear.

Naturally, mi tek a quick look then regain mi composure. As I did, mi realize seh shi a look pan mi underpants. Mi look down an si seh mi hood stan up, as it does most mornings, an di wol a it print out.
I chuckled awkwardly and covered myself with the sheet. She cleared her throat.
"Morning." She greeted me.
"Morning princess. Sorry. A wa time?"
"To seven."
"Alright. Mi can wol a shower before mi leff?" I asked her.
"Of course, wa kinda question dat?"
"Memba mi nuh live here enuh mi still affi ask."
She playfully rolled her eyes.
"Mi ago mek breakfast."
"Alright."

As I made breakfast, I couldn't help but think about him.

Yup. The day has finally come.
I'm currently in my living room with Kelly, Miss Maxine, and Jevon. Both Jevon and Miss Maxine were anxious, but they damn sure weren't more anxious than Kelly and I. However, we all kept checking the time, waiting impatiently for 6:00 pm.
"Bombo... a six o' clock!" Kelly announced.
Miss Maxine pinched her, obviously for cursing.
"Yuh mouth likkle girl! Unu log in pon di portal before mi heart pop out a mi chest."
"Mek wi seh a quick prayer first nuh. Mi know prayer naa go change di results but mek wi pray first." I suggested.
Everybody agreed and we held hands.
"Almighty God..." I started.
"We know we did our best with our CSEC exams and this is the moment we've all been waiting for. No matter what these results say, we pray that you'll fill us with your peace and help us to remember that you are in charge of our future. In Jesus' name, Amen."
"Amen!"
"Weh di collection container?" Jevon joked, probably as an attempt to lighten our moods.
It worked because we all laughed.
"Alright, mek wi log in now."
Miss Maxine sat beside Kelly and Jevon sat beside me as we logged in. My hands were shaking as I typed.
Finally, my results popped up on my phone screen.

Physics - I
English Literature - II
Principles of Business - I

Jevon pulled me into a hug, and Miss Maxine and Kelly started jumping and screaming.
I couldn't say anything. All I could do was cry in his arms.
Kelly handed me her phone and took mine so we could see each others results.
Like me, she did Maths and English Language in grade 10 and passed both. So she did six more subjects this year. She got four ones and two twos. As a bright gyal!
"Proud a yuh princess." Jevon said in my ear.
I looked up at him and was met with his usual bright smile and sparkling hazel eyes. He wiped my tears, then kissed my cheek twice. Then without thinking even for a second, I kissed his lips, which surprised both of us and we quickly pulled away. Luckily, Miss Maxine didn't notice because she was busy talking to someone on her phone, while holding Kelly's and mine and looking back and forth between our results. Kelly on the other hand, was looking at us with a teasing smirk on her face.
After ending the call, Miss Maxine hugged me and told me how proud she was. Again, I started crying. This time, so did Kelly.
"Yuh love gwaan like yuh tuff and look at you now." I teased her.
"Shut up, mi a still gangster." She responded as we shared a hug.
"Unu start fuck?" She whispered in my ear.
"Absolutely not." I mumbled back.

It was just a peck but still...
Wow.
So it's safe to say she definitely likes me in that way. Not just because of the kiss but the way she looks at me. But it's definitely not safe for me to like her in that way, although I do. That's something I'll have to keep to myself and continue fighting it because...

She broke the hug with her best friend then looked at me. Just then, Miss Maxine announced that they were leaving so that she can take Kelly to see her father.
They left, so it was now just us. She looked everywhere but in my eyes so I could tell that she was a bit embarrassed. I grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to me.
"Look pan mi."
She looked up, but still didn't make eye contact. I held her face and gently turned her head so that she was looking directly into my eyes. I took a moment to admire her facial features.
Pretty yuh fuck... face card can neva decline.
"I'm sorry. I-"
She started to apologize but I didn't want to hear that shit so I kissed her. So intensely that it mek mi hood jump.
"Bomboclaat..." I mumbled against her lips.
I didn't want to stop and I could tell that she didn't either but deep down I knew we had to.
