As I walked over to the last two customers who came in, I checked the time on my watch. Seeing that I have less than an hour remaining before I can clock out, I sighed in relief. Today has been a very busy day. The busiest day we've had since like the last month an add. And honestly, mi more dan ready fi gaa mi yaad. Tired isn't even the word right now.

"Good evening ladies. Welcome to Dolls & Dapper Dudes. May I take your orders?"

"Yeah, mi want a medium Chicken Pasta an a Mudslide. Dat yuh want to Shan?"

"No girl, dat fuck up mi belly di last time. Gi mi a Citrus Fizz Mocktail an a Extra Large Fries deh hot gyal."

I quickly wrote down their orders.

"Will that be all?"

"Yeah. One bill maamz."

I made a note of that too, then went to hand in their orders for preparation.

I look down at my ringing work phone and realize that my boss is calling.

"Yes boss?" I answered.

"Come to my office before you leave. I need to have a brief meeting with you."

"Ok."

Naturally, I'm anxious to know what she wants to talk to me about. As far as I know, I haven't done anything wrong so I don't think it's something negative. I really hope it's what I've been praying and working for; a full time position. I know I'm not yet eighteen and I won't be 'til next year but now that I'm basically done with school, working full-time time would be perfect.

My alarm went off, signaling the end of my shift. I quickly clocked out, took my apron off, washed my hands, then headed to my boss' office.

"Shake off da nervousness deh before yuh si dung because we both know yuh know yuh nuh av nuh reason fi a fret." She commented the minute I walked in.

I took a deep breath, then sat down.

"So..." She started.

"Although I still can't hire you full-time until you turn 18, I'm offering you some more hours now that you're basically done with high school. Your current hours are Fridays: six p.m. to ten p.m., Saturdays: ten a.m. to eight p.m., and Sundays: twelve p.m. to eight p.m. I would add two hours to your check in time each day. So instead of starting at six p.m. on Fridays, you'll start at four etcetera. I will also increase your salary from four hundred and sixty dollars per hour to five hundred and fifty dollars per hour. How dat sound?"

"That sounds great!"

"Ok good. I'll prepare a new document for you to sign tomorrow."

"Ok. Thank you."

"Thanks to you too. You've brought in quite a few new customers since you started working here. You can go home. See you tomorrow."

Thank God! At least now I'll be making a bit more money. And more money is ALWAYS a great thing!

The next day
