Ilyana had scared herself, and took this as an excuse to escape. To escape reality. She needed a break, from everything. She was bound to be scolded by Jake, Neytiri and her parents when she returned but this was no time to worry. She had barely made any time for herself.

She ran across the woven walkway and dived into the water, making clicking sounds with her tounge to summon her ilu. A familiar bond washed through her as they began to swim, diving in and out of the water.

The two reached the shore and Ilyana kissed Nìlìuu's head telling her she may swim back to the clan if she wished.

"Thank you."

Ilyana whispered before walking off into the forest. It had mainly gone unknown to many metkayina people. She didn't come here alot, only when things got really bad. Like now.

Ilyana pushed her way through the leaves and plants that paved the rocky pathway, stopping when she reached a tall enough tree to climb. Although she was Metkayina, being alone in the forest had taught her how to climb and adapt to the forest surroundings.

Climbing up the tree had resulted in her resting on a branch, big enough for two. Ilyana was in peace and everything around her was quiet until the leafs above her started rustling and and ikran landed on the brand beside her. To her dismay, Neteyam was sat on it. He slid off his ikran and onto the branch not noticing Ilyana was sat staring at him in discust.

"Oh. Ilyana."

Neteyam spotted her as she was about to stand up and leave. He could tell by her body language she wanted nothing more than to be away from him. He couldn't blame her though, after what he said, but he couldn't help feel uncomfortable at how affectionate she was towards him when he first returned. What Spider had said earlier took him by surprise, but eventually everything added up. He went to ask his mother immediately as his father tended to the human boy. He didn't even know if he was alive or not but it didn't matter.

Ilyana and him had mated? Were they still mated?

"I'm sorry."

Was all Ilyana could say. What was she sorry for? Nothing was her fault and Neteyam wanted to tell her that. He wanted to hold her and let her grieve in his arms for all the pain he had put her through, multiple times.

"You have no reason to be sorry."

He couldn't look into her eyes, scared that if he did they'd both start crying. No wonder he was immediately drawn to her. She was his mate and it didn't matter if they bond was broken or not, they had still been mated.

Ilyana nodded in reply and went to walk passed him, about to climb down.

"I never did anything with Tsofià. She kissed me, that was it."

A sense of relief washed through Ilyana and she sighed, nodding again.

Neteyam was unsure how to comfort her, I mean. He had told her something unforgivable especially with how much pain she was already in.

"Say something. Please."

Not hearing her voice to reassure him that she was okay, hurt Neteyam. He had broken this girl on multiple occasions so he expected nothing less than for her to hate him.

"What do you want me to say?"

This was finally time to break the tension. Ilyana would tell him everything.

"You want me to tell you that I hate you? That I swear I will stay out of your life forever? Do you want to hear it from me? That I wished we had never dedicated our lives together?"

Her words were rhetorical. She did not need his answer. His eyes simply spoke for him. They were sad, guilty even.

"Well I don't! I am in love with you Neteyam. I have tried so hard to forget about your existence. To erase you from my memory but I can't."

Ilyana's hair swayed as she shook her head at him, speaking so passionately.

"Neteyam I wanted you to be mine forever. And you we're taken from me in such a short time. You need to understand that no one can possibly heal from that. I was so broken."

She had gotten so close to him that he could simply kiss her. She rambled on about the stress he had put her through and quickly pecked her lips.

She stopped talking and stared at him in shock. Their kiss was short and definitely not the best they have shared but it being the first kiss since everything happened, it had healed Ilyana's shattered heart in a matter of seconds.

She opened her mouth to say something but was paused when Neteyam dragged her onto the back of his ikran.

Ilyana had told him multiple times, before his death, that she wanted to ride an ikran. Their kiss had sparked a sudden memory in Neteyam's head and he immediately remembered her request.

"Nononono!"

The reef girl squealed as the dove off the tree and flew over the clear Pandora waters. Neteyam looked over his shoulder to see a huge smile plastered across her face, her fangs shining through. She was beautiful.
