Wednesday detached from Xavier for a moment. He was being clingy. She enjoyed it at times, but at others it truly bothered her. As if he did not understand how difficult the conversion is for her. She already slept by his side. He should know she's putting in effort. And she wanted this. She wanted him. She just needed time to adjust. She sat by herself in the library, finding sanctuary in the books. Distracting herself with stories and facts rather than focusing on how lonely it felt without Thing on her shoulder.
She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, the ticking of the clock merging with the longing memories of a Thing tapping away beside her. As if he were still there. She pushed down the tears in her eyes and with it the sick feeling in her chest.
"Uhm...excuse me? Could I sit here with you?" A small, timid voice asked. Wednesday looked up at the source and was met by a blonde haired girl with striking blue eyes. "I like sitting on my own but my mother used to tell me to socialize more. I've always been sort of invisible. But now that she's gone...I've decided to try."
Wednesday was taken aback by the straightforwardness the girl displayed, something she usually just found in herself. But she respected her for it. So she nodded as a silent approval. "Thank you. I'm Maria Sweless." The girl smiled. "Wednesday Addams." The black haired girl responded monotonously.
"I know. Everyone knows. You took down the Hyde last year." Maria beamed. "Yes...I know." Wednesday mumbled. "Oh! I'm sorry. I guess you don't enjoy talking about it all that much. It must be haunting. And you seem like the quiet type, but you've suddenly been forced into the spotlight and you have no cover anymore and-" Wednesday interrupted her, "for someone who's usually invisible you do come out of your shell easily."
Maria smiled, "It isn't usually this easy. But it seems easier with you. And Yoko has been helping me come out of my shell more." Wednesday raised her eyebrows, "Yoko?" She asked. "Yeah...We've been dating for a while now. I went to your party." Maria mentioned, "I was a part of the people you kicked out." She chuckled.
"Oh..." Was all Wednesday replied with. Though she did not dislike Maria, she had no remorse whatsoever for booting her and the others from her dorm. Instead she went back to reading. Maria awkwardly sat there, quickly realizing Wednesday was not going to be socializing any time soon. She cleared her throat and peered down at her own book and began reading.

"When are you coming back to our dorm?" Enid whined as she plopped herself down at a lunch table. Wednesday stared back at Enid, "I go back there every night and every morning, Enid." Wednesday reminded her. "Yeah but you don't even sleep there!" Enid cried out exasperated.
Wednesday rolled her eyes, "Oh please, as if you haven't enjoyed my absence just a bit. I know Ajax sleeps over more than you'd like to admit." Wednesday commented. Enid turned red, but then shook it off, "yeah, because it's lonely in there! With you and Thing gone it feels...cold. And not just the room." Enid frowned and furrowed her brows.
"I know you miss him Wednesday." Enid whispered. "I do too." She continued. Wednesday didn't reply. "I'll sleep over tonight then Enid." She decided. Enid smiled softly and then got excited, "We could have a girls' night! First night back together!" Enid squealed.
"If that girls night involves sleeping then sure." Wednesday said half-heartedly. "Of course we'll sleep! But we can do our nails, and our hair, and maybe you could read me your book...?" Enid suggested. Wednesday pursed her lips in thought, "perhaps." Was all she responded, she offered Enid a small and quick smile.

The school was currently operating with no headmistress. Instead, for big decisions, the teachers would all get together and discuss before holding a vote. They seemed very political about everything. For dorms students would go to their respective dorm authorities and discuss it with them. Things ran with order and not chaos. Everyone, even the students, were trying their best to keep it that way.
Xavier hummed along to John Wayne by Cigarettes after Sex. His brush stroking along the canvas. His hair down and tucked behind his ears. He couldn't sit still in botany class, his fingers itching to paint. Not even sketching got the urge out. He had sketched so much he earned a glare from Wednesday.
The second the bell rang he hurriedly gathered his things and told Wednesday he'd be in his art shed, he kissed her chastely and rushed away. Once he arrived, he plopped himself down and began to paint. With no set vision in mind he just poured out a bunch of paint and dipped his brush and let his hands do the rest.
Only recently had he put on his music. He had started coming back to reality and music always helped him get into the specific mind set he needed between zoning out and focus. He still had no idea what he was painting. He tapped his brush here, did a few strokes there, switched brushes from time to time, switched colours. He knew he got paint in his hair and on his face but he didn't care.
"Xavier? What is that?" He heard Wednesday ask from the doorway. She snapped him out of the zone as she stared wide eyed at the painting. Xavier looked at her confused, "I'm not really sure. I just painted." He furrowed his brows at her expression, "Why...?" He asked turning back towards his canvas. He saw the whole picture now.
There amongst the black of the canvas, fire stood out in contrast. A burning book sat in the middle. Burnt black, the only legible part of the cover read 'Shadows'. Wednesday stood beside Xavier and observed the painting closer.
"Huh." Scoffed Xavier. Wednesday cleared her throat and turned to face him, "I just came to wish you good night. I'll be sleeping in my dorm tonight." She informed him, earning a whine from the boy across from her. "Nooooooooooo." Xavier pouted and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer.
Wednesday patted his head and pulled away, "good night." She told him before placing a soft kiss on his lips. She walked away and closed the door behind her.
Xavier sighed as he watched her leave. He looked back at his painting skeptically, before shrugging and covering it up. He placed it in the corner of his shed and stacked it up against the wall. He turned off the light and locked the door behind him, wrote walking back to his dorm.

Xavier woke up in the middle of the night to a knock on his window. He groaned and looked up at it. "Wednesday?" He grumbled groggily, staring at the small girl shivering outside in nothing but an oversized sweatshirt. His to be exact. "Open the window Xavier." Wednesday ordered.
He rolled out of bed with a thump before unlatching it and allowing her to climb inside. "What the hell were you doing on the roof?" He asked her. She stared at the floor, "I couldn't sleep." Xavier breathed through his nose and thought for a second, "then get in bed. You're sleeping over."
Wednesday shuffled over to Xavier's bed and got under the covers. He followed shortly after. He breathed deeply as Wednesday soon tangled herself in his arms. A position they had adopted quickly. Her head lay on his chest, he could feel her breathing slow. "I love you." He whispered into the night. "I love you." She replied before drifting off to sleep.
