"NO!" Wednesday sobbed. "NO!" Her voice rang out. The only sound that could be heard over the silence of the forest. Enid stood aside, silence cradling her pain. She didn't know what to say.

Wednesday's hands dug and dug into the ground, picking up the ashes in desperation. Her breath escaping through her punctured lungs as he heart clenched over and over again.

Oxygen was biting her like a venom and her eyes welled up like a fountain. Her sobs were escaping on their own. Enid softly went over to her and tried to pull her off of her feet. "C'mon Wednesday..." she tried to sooth her.

"NO! DON'T TOUCH ME! STOP!" Wednesday shouted as she flung herself from Enid's grasp. She fell to the ground and clawed at the ashes being blown away in the wind.

The day before - 2:30 PM

"I can't believe we found everything." Enid remarked, clutching a brown paper bag in her arms as she walked alongside Wednesday. The two were in town, having just left the coffee shop. "Well, it's really the blood that ties it all together." Wednesday explained as she stared at their feet. The sun was bright, it hurt her eyes.

Wednesday felt someone grab her wrist, startles she turned around and was met with Xavier. Wednesday shot him a look, to which he replied with a cheeky grin. Xavier kissed her smoothly then continued walking as if nothing had happened, offering Wednesday a scandalous smirk over his shoulder. No one else seemed to have noticed their exchange...apart from Enid.

"What?!" She shouted, now that drew attention. Enid noticed and dropped her voice down, "that came out of nowhere sorry. Just enthusiastically surprised. I mean, I know he had breakfast with us, but I thought that was like a slow recovery. You guys are on like- a highway."

Wednesday shrugged, "it's nothing Enid."

4:00 PM

Wednesday walked alone in the hallway. Her head down. It seemed to be a recurring theme today. She walked withdrawn. Well...more than usual. She assumed it was because of the nervousness wracking her core. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her, but every time she looked over her shoulder no one was there.

Her senses were heightened, for fear that someone, anyone, would take this away from her. She had become obsessed with what she was about to do, she wouldn't let anything come between her and her goal.

Wednesday turned the corner and was met by Maria Sweless. "Hey Wednesday!" She smiled. "I was just wondering if you wanted to be partners for that History project. Seeing as...you know, you've got some history there?" Wednesday eyed the girl sceptically. Though she was met by nothing other than her pale lips giving her a white smile.

"Alright." Wednesday agreed somewhat reluctantly, though she had no reason to. "Great!" The girl beamed. "Gosh I've been looking for you for ages. You're really a hard person to find. And that's coming from someone who's basically invisible." Maria gushed, half laughing. Wednesday could see that she had been looking for her, flushed cheeks and all.
"Well yes, I've been out to town with Enid." Wednesday stated. "Oh!" Maria grinned to herself, "well that explains it! I thought wompies had gotten to you or something."
