Ivy's POV
I'm angry. It's been two days since Nate just walked away from me without an explanation, and I've been avoiding him. I don't understand how he can just keep playing with my feelings this way. The retreat was absolute bliss, and ever since we came back, it's been an utter shit show.
I'm sitting in the music room, plucking away on the piano, trying to sort through my feelings.
Confusion.
Anger.
Attraction.
I've never been so emotionally confused in my entre life, and this is proving to be hard to navigate. I want to yell, scream, and kiss Nate all at the same time and it's driving me insane. I sigh, beginning to play and I hear the door open, and I stop and turn to see who is coming in and I see the familiar face of Genevieve.
"Heya stranger." She says with a smile and I half smile back.
"What's wrong?"
I shake my head. "I don't even know."
"Let's talk about it, like we usually do." She comes and sit beside me on the bench, and I nod and sigh loudly. "It's Nate."
"What happened? I thought everything was going well."
"It was until he started pushing me away after I healed up from my attack. He stopped texting, being close with me. I thought it was just due to the stress he holds on himself and his duties, but I don't know for sure anymore. I think I was trying to convince myself that it was anything but me."
"What makes you think it's you?"
"We got talking last night after we had finished work for the day..."
"Tobias told you about what he found?" I nod. "Okay so I get that. Keep going."
"I had told him that he needed to focus on more important things than a wolfless girl like me and he got offended, and then got close to me again, like before. Kissed me... and then apologized said he shouldn't use me and then walked out on me."
I look to Evie, and I see her processing the words I said and she half smiles.
"Seems to me like you two need to have a talk about what you are to each other, and your feelings."
"You think so?" I ask and she nods profusely. "Definitely. Things are getting more complicated, and it seems like you need to be open and navigate it together."
"But what if he doesn't want me?"
"That isn't the case, Ivy and you know it."
I lean down and rest my head on the edge of the piano, looking down at the ivory keys, plucking them one by one absentmindedly. A few moments of silence pass.
"I guess I should talk to him, huh."
"That's what I would do. Go find him and talk to him."
"Okay. Thank you, my friend."
"Anytime."
Evie stands up and side hugs me before leaving and I take some more time to myself to mentally prepare myself.
I don't know how this is going to go, but I have to try right?
I stand and head out of the music room and down towards Nate's office, determination fueling me.
I turn the corner and see Tobias and I wave to get his attention. He approaches me with a smile. "Ivy. What can I do for you?" "Is Alpha in meetings? I know he had a few today." He nods. "Yes, he's got three of them back-to-back today, he's in the second one now that should be finishing up. Do you need him?"
