Ivy's POV
I inhale sharply as I dodge Cole's advance, his hands barely missing my shoulders. I duck under his arm and try to run past, but I'm yanked back by my hair roughly. I reach behind me and scratch at his hands with my nails and thankfully he lets go. I scramble away and turn to face him, my hand on the door-frame leading outside into the cold.
I glare him down before he advances again, going to grab me and I deflect his grasp and deliver a swift punch to his face. He stumbles back into the whiteboard, grasping it to balance himself.
"A lot harder to hit me when I'm not bound by silver or have my hands tied down isn't it?" I taunt and he snarls as he cups his nose, some blood dripping from between his fingers. "You'll pay for that you bitch."
"Oh, you think so. Prove it then asshole. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time."
He lurches forward again, and I bring my elbow down on his outstretched arm, forcing him to fly past me and into the desk face first. I turn around quickly as he pushes backwards to try and knock me over, but only manages to bump into me slightly enough that I can recover pretty quickly. I deliver another punch to his head, and he falls to his knees briefly, and I take that moment to take off outside.
I hear him roar my name loudly as I run through the snow and into the trees close to the line of houses.
I look around and try to figure out where I am, but since I didn't leave the pack much, I'm unsure of my surroundings. I keep running to put as much distance between Cole and I as possible, and I run into a clearing and I slow down for a moment, shivering as the cold seeps into my bones.
I hear a low growl behind me, and I whip around to see a brown wolf stalking towards me, and I recognize that it's Alarik. He must have been out on patrol or something while Cole was hunting.
My guard goes up, considering how he had said his wolf likes to kill, but he doesn't approach me as if to take me down. Instead, he comes in front of me and sits down, cocking his head to the side. It's then I put the pieces together.
"You left my cell door open." A brief nod of brown fur confirms my thoughts.
"Which way should I go?" He stands and turns back where he came from, nudging his head ever so slightly to the left, signalling that I should go there. I walk up to him and reach out, petting his fur.
"Thank you, Alarik. Honestly. I'm sorry for what happened to you, and I hope you and your wolf can find peace."
"That will never be possible, his wolf is a bloodthirsty animal when it comes to other wolves."
I whip to my right as Cole comes into view, walking slowly towards Alarik and me.
Alarik growls lowly, a warning but Cole shrugs it off. "You won't be able to hurt me you mangy mutt. You're just as helpless as her." He points to me, and a sickening grin starts across his face.
"Guess I'll just have to kill you both then, since he helped you and all."
I position myself into a warrior stance as Alarik lowers his head to the ground before leaping forward towards Cole, snarling, and snapping his jaws and teeth.
Cole dodges him and walks towards me, and before he can reach me, Alarik tackles him from the side, latching onto his shoulder and throwing him with all his might. Cole skids across the snow-covered ground, stopping his momentum a small amount before getting to his feet again.
He shakes with rage. "YOU DARE SIDE WITH HER NOW? AFTER EVERYTHING I'VE DONE FOR YOU?" He spits as he yells, and Alarik only growls low in response before leaping into action again. He manages to throw Cole another time, before Cole himself shifts, his blond wolf making his appearance. He's large and strong considering his Alpha blood, but Alarik keeps up. I go to try to run past them, but Cole catches me at the last second with a clamp of his jaws down on my shoulder, tacking me to the ground.
I screech in pain as he releases me, and I roll in the snow before getting up, as Alarik tackles Cole again. I feel the warmth of my blood dripping down my arm from my wound and I wince as I try to lift and inspect the damage.
Cole and Alarik are still going at it in front of me, and I watch intently for some sort of opening, back and forth between the blond and brown fur that is whipping around, the snarls and growls echoing in the air.
I gasp as I hear Alarik whimper as Cole pins him down by the neck with his paws. He looks up at me and snarls before ripping Alarik's throat out and I bring my hand to my mouth to muffle the cry that comes out.
Tears spring to my eyes before a raging fire starts to burn in my body.
He wasn't the best person, but he didn't deserve to die that way.
Not by the hand of a power-hungry asshole of a wolf like Cole, who manipulated him and used him.
He redeemed himself. He tried to save me, help me get away and back to where I belong.
The warmth radiates through my whole body, and I shake as I yell.
"I'LL KILL YOU!!!"
Cole growls as he stalks towards me slowly and I plant my feet, ready to fight. I run towards him, anger, sadness, frustration, and grief overtaking me as I leap into the air.
Take him down warrior.
I hear Seles in my head briefly before I land on all fours. Seles is snarling and snapping her jaws at Cole, who stopped advancing towards us, clearly shocked that my wolf is in front of him.
I mind-link him.
You better fight for your life. I'm not making this easy for you.
I don't get a response, which I expected. I circle him, like a predator.
Time to take this asshole down, once and for all, together.
Seles says as I leap into action with her for the first time in 6 years, ready and willing.
