Chapter 8: Friends

When Carlos and Aurora walked into the restaurant, they could see a nervous Charles sitting alone with his whole meal in front of him.

-Can we join you?- Carlos asked when they approach him

-Are you ok?- Charles ignored Carlos's question, instead, he made one to the blonde girl

-I am, sorry I scared you.-

-It's ok, you know whatever that was you can trust me?- she nodded

-And I'll always be there to protect you in case this one is missing.- he joked while pointing at Carlos

-Charles, about that. We don't want anybody to know.- Aurora explained and he nodded

-Ror, what do you want to eat?- Carlos asked with a smile

-I'm not sure. Go grab something for you, I'll go in a minute.-

-Leclerc, Sainz, Bianchi.- Mattia happily said while sitting at the table with them

-We want to have a small party tonight, just Ferrari staff.- he said, and before Charles could interrupt he continued

-Yeah, Leclerc, your girlfriend can come. You two, someone I need to add to the guest list?- Mattia asked them.

-Um, no, thanks, Mattia.- Aurora answered

-Yeah, same for me.- Sainz explained

-Wow, no date this time?- Mattia joked and everybody kind of laughed

-Well, see you tonight.- Mattia said while standing up

-Before I forget, Bianchi, I'm happy you got some friends here.- he said with a smile while pointing to the two drivers

-Such close friends.- Charles joked but gained a horrible look from Aurora

-Are you stupid?- Aurora asked the Monegasque

-Come on, Mattia doesn't suspect anything. Plus, I'm sure you both would ruin the secret before I get the chance to do it.-

-That's not true.- Carlos said

-Wanna bet?- Charles suggested

-Sure!-

-Fifty euros that you are going to ruin it first.- Charles said and the three of them agreed

An hour later, the three of them finished having breakfast. They were talking and having a good time when Aurora's phone rang.

-Everything ok?- Carlos asked her

-Yeah, all drivers were called to a press conference in an hour.- she explained

-Fun, I love press conferences with all of us.- Charles happily said

-Can we go to my office and go over all the questions they may ask?- she asked and both drivers nodded, signaling the girl to stand up and get going.

-Bianchi! Where are you taking them?- Caco asked laughing

-Conference in an hour.- she simply said

-They look like your bodyguards.- Caco laughed

-I'm caring about my friend.- Charles said

-I know you are. Carlos, what about you, taking care of your girl friend?- he laughed and Aurora got nervous

-Caco, you better shut up or I'll call my aunt.- Carlos joked but at the same time, he felt nervous about Aurora's reaction.

-Rory, everything alright?- Charles asked

-Um, yeah. It's just that Lando's contract is all over social media. I hate when they do this kind of stuff.- she explained when they were in her office

-What do you mean?- Carlos asked

-McLaren wants all the attention they can have today at the press conference. And they know they'll get that with this news. We all know there's a bit of tension between Daniel and Lando, and now, with this contract thing, it will only get worse.- she explained

-Daniel and Lando aren't friends?- Charles asked

-Lando is still mad at me.- Carlos simply said

-Exactly, that is why I need you to be Ferrari all the way.- Aurora said to Carlos now fully concentrated on her job.

What? How?- he asked

Don't get involved in all the McLaren drama, you aren't their driver anymore and you are not on Lando's or Daniel's side, you are with Ferrari, and you are on Charles's side. Got it?- Aurora explained and Carlos nodded

Now, they'll probably ask about the expectations for the season, so, let's start there.- she said with a smile.
