Teenagers smoke and vape because society advices them not to. Adolescents feel independent and "grown up" doing things that in most country you can't do until adulthood.

The first time I smoked a cigarette (attempted is a better word for it), I was 11. My friend Jennie and her friend Minji and I stole a few cigarettes from Jennie mother and smoked them in her attic. I don't believe I actually inhaled anything, just putting my mouth on it. Jennie was doing the same as me but Minji finished a whole cigarette by herself while Jennie and I shared 1. It made me feel inferior to her.

Vaping is more modern than smoking, more common now among teens. I started vaping in 6th grade, Jennie being the influencer of it.

I loved the light head feeling of being buzzed and the look of the smoke flowing out of my mouth and into the air of Jennies bedroom.

By preference I fancy cigarettes a bit more than vapes and everyone thinks I'm weird for it, however I assume everyone has their own preferences and likings.

It made me feel like I had a mysterious secret to my character, a rebellious sort of charm. It's quite embarrassing now that I'm older and realize recharging a dead, burnt puff bar with a stripped wire was not as cool and attractive as I thought.

I would use the same rechargeable until it was on its last puff, no juice left, just a burnt coil that was eye watering to directly inhale.

If I'm being frank it makes me quite sad to think about the things I would do to fit in with my friends.

That might have been when the depression arrose.
