Sun blearily blinks open her eyes, waking to a sunlit (she smiles under the covers at the joke) room. She slowly wipes the crust from her eyes, her wrist feeling bare from the lack of jewelry. The fan is not on, she notices, her eyebrows furrowing in annoyance before lifting to their natural placement again. She sits up, looking around at the circular shaped chamber. It was large enough to be considered fit for royalty, yet not too large that it felt it housed the whole castle. She yawned, tossing the covers over her body and getting up from the bed. She walked over to the dresser, opening wardrobe and selecting some dancer-like silk outfits. They were white, gold, and cream themed. It complemented her dark complexion, or so she was told by her girlfriend. She chuckled, thinking about how Moon must have just gone to sleep.
Not many people would like to have their job, she knows. Of course, she has known this for a long time. She thinks about this as she puts on her silks, adjusting them to make them suitable to be seen in. Their job is harder than most would assume. Much planning, much political work, much communications, and much representation. She stares in her mirror, glancing at her hair and deciding to just leave it for today. Moon and her have to be ready for a problem at any moments notice. There have been many times when they've passed out from exertion, the other having to do the work for the asleep one. It was stressful, and not many were prepared for the work that came with being... well... basically a god. You had to answer prayers, to communicate with other representatives, manage wars, and more. Sun grabbed gold bracelets, gold earrings, gold anklets, and gold rings. She slipped them on, stepping out of her room and heading towards the dining hall. All the celestial representatives had their own castles, much like kings and queens. Sun's was the greatest, though. Hers had more rooms and detail than any of the solar systems could ever imagine, and she smirked a little at the show of power.
Sun opened the massive wooden door, a large creak sounding from it. She winced, knowing Moon was staying the night and her castle tended to echo. It's probably fine, she waves it off, simply continuing her journey to the food. It appears they made waffles today, she observes. It's not often the chefs make waffles, usually they stick to eggs and toast, or some other variation of those particular items, give or take. She sits down at the main chair, feeling lonely. Sun knows Moon just got done with one of her worst work nights, and she knows this because there is the Winter solstice happening in two days. Sun has tried to help her lover, but Moon has a habit of refusing help. Sun rolls her eyes every time, but does do some of Moon's work every now and then. She grabs a fork, adorned with jewels and gems. She snorts a little, knowing that it was unnecessary and entirely for a show of power. How extra we rulers can be, she sighs. Yet she takes a bite of her waffles anyway, who had toppings of whipped cream and strawberries. The food was disgustingly good, making her grateful she was born into such grace. She heard the doors open behind her, turning around without rush. At the sight of Moon, she quirks her eyebrow.
"I thought you were supposed to be asleep?" She questions after downing the bite of food she had taken. Moon grunts, obviously tired but still pushing through. Sun liked that about Moon; no matter how hard she had been worked, she'd still be ready to present her public image just as good as she always had. Moon pauses, closing her eyes and standing still. Sun continues to watch her and eat at the same time. Sun thinks Moon might've fallen asleep standing up (it wouldn't be the first time), so she gently speaks again, "Hey. You with us?"
"Yeah, just- just gimmie a second." Moon says, before righting her posture, opening her eyes, and looking as if she had just woken up. Sun looks Moon up and down, examining her girlfriend. She was wearing the blue and black silks the servants had provided, white stars which were to represent constellations dotting around the article of clothing. Moon was wearing silver jewelry, a stud earring in one ear and a star one which was connected by about an inch long chain to the part that was inserted into the lobe.* Moon had freckles across her fair skin, not many, but enough on her face to tell. Her hair was dyed a gentle white-gray, a little bit past shoulder-length. Sun's was longer, her braids going down to her mid-back. She had orange-yellow dyed hair, and she thought that each other's hair choice was nice on each other. Moon walked over to the chair right beside Sun, sitting down and being handed a plate by one of Sun's closer servants, Eleanor. Moon muttered a quick thanks, before beginning to set her plate.
Sun watched in interest, finishing her own plate and beginning to just watch Moon exist. It was a beautiful relationship between the two, and the symbolism couldn't have worked better. As Moon was done setting her plate, she pressed her hands together. Moon said some quick words in Ancient Donyak, probably thanking the Gods for the food, although they were said to have died long ago. Sun simply watched, free of judgement, as Moon cleaned the plate like there was no tomorrow. She waited to ask her question, wanting to let Moon enjoy her (probably) first work break that 24 hours. Moon got done with her main course, plucking a strawberry out of bowl, and then eating it. She rested her head back against the chair, simply waiting for Sun to talk.
"So, how was the work?" Sun gently prodded. Moon brought a hand up to speak while she was talking, letting it flow eloquently like water with her words.
"Oh, it was awful. See, I wanted to have everything for the gala planned out so that I wouldn't have to do anything the night before or the night of, but Jupiter just had to announce that he was getting married soon," she paused, seen Sun open her mouth and interrupted herself, "with Saturn, if you were wondering," before continuing her rant. "So now I have to wonder if they're going to make it or not. I'm sure you are acutely aware of how detrimental it is to not have the two biggest gas giants show up at one of the most important galas of the year. I don't know, it's a lot. Do you have everything set up on your end?" Moon questions, looking into Sun's honey-golden colored eyes. Sun nods.
"I do. Although I was wondering one thing." Moon hums, prompting Sun to continue. "What is your favorite type of gem?" Sun asks, innocently.
"... my favorite gem?" She repeats. Sun nods, ready to mentally note it down. "Oh, I don't know. They're all gorgeous, I think. Can I get back to you on that one?" Moon ponders aloud, and Sun simply giggles, before nodding. She stands up, ready to take her's and Moon's plate to the kitchen to have the servants wash them. She bends down, kissing Moon's forehead.
"I'm going to go deliver these to the servants. Go sleep, darling. I can see you dragging yourself to complete the simplest actions." Sun whispers against her partner's ear, before walking towards the kitchen. Sun can tell that Moon nods, because she just knows. She hears the scooting of a chair behind her, presumably Moon listening to Sun's advice. Sun walks to the kitchen, gently holding the plates out for somebody to take. In less than what Sun can count is 10 seconds, somebody has already taken the plates and silverware. Sun turns around, walking out of the dining hall. A filling breakfast to start a new day, she thinks optimistically.
And if she goes to her room and pulls her phone out, and looks at good wedding rings to buy, that's nobody's business but hers. And if she maybe just so happens to order it with prime so that it'll be here in a day or less, that's also nobody's business but hers. She smiles, before sitting at her desk, grabbing her ink pen (because even if they have phones, it's for the aesthetic damnit) and beginning to start her work of the day.
