Chapter 7

Months passed, and Lou and Mandy were always spending time together whenever they have free time. And during those months, Lou was always showing Mandy that he likes her but every time he does that, Mandy just sees this as Lou's way of showing care. Because of this, Lou almost gave up and was certain that Mandy will never like him back. Right now, Lou is having a conversation with Ox at Uglyville.

"I give up" Lou sighed.

"What? Lou, you can't just give up!" Ox said, shocked.

"Why can't I when every time I tried to show her that I like her, she only sees me as a friend," Lou said in a sad tone.

Ox walked up to him and gave him a comforting hug.

"And whenever I see her with Nolan, I always felt jealous. Am I even allowed to be jealous? She's not even my girlfriend" Lou sighed.

"You have every right to feel that way, Lou. You like her, so, of course, it's normal for you to feel that way" Ox said, still hugging him.

"Thanks, Ox...but I don't think it's a crush anymore..." Lou said.

"What do you mean?" Ox pulled away.

"I'm in love with her..." Lou confessed while looking away.

Ox gasped.

"Lou" Ox said then put a hand on Lou's shoulder.

"As I said, you have every right to feel that way. And I will support you all the way, buddy" Ox continued in a stern voice.

"Thank you, Ox" Lou smiled.

The next day, Lou was training the dolls as usual and while he was keeping a watch on the dolls, Moxy appeared.

Lou's POV:

"Hey, Mox, you're early," I said, kinda surprised.

"Yeah, my kid is asleep so I thought I would go back here to visit" she explained.

I just nodded and turn my attention back to my students while crossing my arms. Then out of nowhere, we saw Mandy and Nolan walking around the institute. And as usual, I felt jealous seeing them together. I didn't even notice that I was already forming a fist in my hands.

"Lou, calm down. Your jealousy is showing" Moxy tried to calm me down.

I took a deep breath and compose myself.

"Right, sorry Mox," I said while pretending to fix my tie.

I really should control myself

A few moments ago

Mandy's POV:

I just got out of my house when I saw Nolan walking around. I called him and he immediately noticed me. We talked for a bit and decided to take a stroll. While taking a stroll, we saw Lou and Moxy in the training area. I was gonna say hi to them but Lou looked angry for some reason.

Was he mad at me or something?

So I just stopped myself and just continue on with our stroll. Nolan seemed to notice my reaction.

"Everything ok?" he asked.

"Uh, yeah...I guess..." I replied, not sure what to say.

He looked back at Lou and Moxy then turn to me.

"Lou seemed mad again, I wonder why"

"Yeah...wait, what do you mean by 'again'?" I asked, confused.

"Well, you may not notice but whenever I hang out with you and Lou was there, I always get a glimpse of him and he always looks angry, and I don't know why" he explained.

"Oh, that is strange," I said.

"Do you think he's jealous?" Nolan suddenly said.

"Huh?! Why would he be jealous? And jealous of who?" I asked.

We stopped walking. And thankfully, we are far from Lou and Moxy at this point.

"I'm not sure but I think he's jealous of me"

"Why would Lou be jealous of you? Did you guys fight or something?"

"No, no, no, it's not like that. I think Lou is jealous because he likes you" he finally admitted.

"Nolan, what makes you think Lou likes me?" I asked while rubbing my arm.

"Well, since you told me the other day that you have a crush on him, I just thought maybe he likes you too!" Nolan happily said.

"Nolan, you know he's way out of my league and besides, I'm probably not his type" I defended.

"Well, if that was the case, then why is he treating you in a way where you are more than just his friend?" he questioned.

"W-well, he is our leader, so maybe it's just his duty to take care of his fellow dolls?" I said nervously.

"Really? Because he doesn't do that to other dolls like us. Not even me" Nolan insisted.

At this point, I don't know what to say. I was about to say something but I quickly shut my mouth.

"The signs are there, Mandy. There are also a few times when I saw Lou trying to hold your hand secretly when you are together. Especially when I'm behind both of you while we're all together." he explained even more.

Oh my doll...

I never knew any of this. Maybe I'm just too naive to notice. But I can't help but doubt it. I sighed.

"If your observation was right, Nolan, then that would be a miracle that Lou likes me back. But I can't help but think that he's only being nice to me." I explained.

Nolan looked at me with a rather sympathetic look.

"Either way, let's not assume things. It could be a mixed signal" I said.

Then we continue our stroll. But I got to admit, I want to believe that Lou actually likes me. I honestly planned to confess to him when the right time comes. If he feels the same then that's great but if he rejects me then...it's better than not trying at all.

Later night at Uglyville

Lou's POV:

I was at Ox's house while sitting on a couch. I inhaled deeply and exhaled.

"Let me guess, you saw "them" again, didn't you?" Ox said, almost teasingly.

"You're getting good at guessing things" I complimented.

"Well, ever since I knew you had a crush on Mandy, all we ever talk about is your complicated love life. Well, almost about that" he shrugged.

I scoffed.

"If you even call it love life," I said.

"Why don't you just confess already? Who knows? She may like you back"

I just raise a brow at him.

"Come on Lou. I mean just think, Mandy already accepted you for who you are and she doesn't even care if you're a prototype. She even continued to be your friend. So what else is there to stop you?"

"Rejection. That's what" I said in a serious tone.

Ox was silent.

"Ok, sure, Mandy already accepted me despite me being a prototype but this one is different. What if she gets shocked and overwhelmed by this? If she rejects me then things might get awkward and our friendship might get ruined. And I don't want that to happen"

I can't lose her...
