Hello Everyone
First, I want to say thank you for all the well wishes and kind words in regards to my writing and story. Writing has always been something that has brought me peace and healing when times are hard or when I can't seem to express myself in any other way. To have my words be so well received by others makes my soul happy and I can't thank each of you enough for that.
Secondly, I wanted to share some backstory into how I chose Ripley and Eddie's baby's name. Yes, I know. It's a Metallica song included in one of the chapters. Isn't that the only significant thing about it? Well, no, actually, it isn't. It has a personal significance that I feel compelled to share.
In 2014, a friend from high school took his own life. It was the shock of my life as this person was the class clown, the life of the party, and all around the happiest person I ever knew. For a long time, I wondered how someone so carefree and charming could be compelled to do something like that, but then again depression comes in all shades and colors. I mourned his loss pretty heavily. Even more so when the following year, my step-dad followed in his footsteps. My friend's name was Orion and in a way, I wanted to immortalize him. So this character is in honor of him, my dear friend.
If you or someone you know is struggling in any way, please seek the sanctuary of others. No one is ever truly alone even if, in this moment, it may feel that way. I may not know any of you personally, but my inbox and DMs are always open. Please seek help.
