After dinner, Luca went to give Laura a house tour while the rest of us went to Dad's office.
I sat next to Matteo to the left of Dad's desk. Matteo broke the silence saying "Isn't she so pretty?"
I nod my head smiling. She really is beautiful. She has the cutest freckles on her face. My brothers and father give some version of "yes." Even Xander nodded his head. I can tell he's scared to get close to her, but him being an asshole won't accomplish that.
Dad then speaks up "She's not the same. I mean I know she wouldn't be the same, it's been 15 years, but she always has an emotionless mask on. It took me years to master that. Her eyes don't show anything either. They're almost lifeless. I just hope Hannah wasn't too bad of a mother to her."
I noticed her flinch when Luca hugged her. I think Alessandro did too. I mean it was sudden so I probably would too, but I just hope it isn't the alternative thought running through my mind.
"I think we should wait for her to become comfortable with us before asking too many questions. I mean she just found out she has 6 brothers and a father." Matteo says
"I agree" I tell everyone
"Me too" Xavier says
"I don't know, what if something did happen and she needs our help. Shouldn't we be there for her? And you guys literally picked her up at the police station almost getting arrested for fighting. Why did she even fight that guy? Like what if he did something to her." Alessandro says nervously
"She seemed more amused about the situation than anything. I mean she kept her hands behind her back for almost an hour after already taking off the handcuffs just to prove that she could do it. Matteo almost fell on the ground laughing. Now, I don't know how she learned to take off the cuffs, or why she got into the fight, but it's good to know she can protect herself to some degree. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize her not trusting us. Let's just see how it goes when she comes in here." Dad says calmly
"Okay. Do you have her school records yet?" Alessandro asks
"Yes, she's super intelligent. She has straight A's, but her attendance record isn't the best. She also has gotten into 25 fights this semester alone. Looks like she has a bad temper like Xander." Dad says laughing towards the end
This causes Xander to lift his head towards Dad and smile slightly. I'm not even sure if he noticed he did it. He seems lost in his thoughts.
That comment made Xavier and Matteo laugh. Xavier elbows his twin getting a glare in response. Xavier just rolls his eyes and asks "So do you think we should tell her about the mafia?"
The rooms grows tense at the question. "I don't know if we should." Alessandro says
"I agree" Xander speaks up
"I don't know. I mean if we tell her and she freaks out that will be bad. But if we don't tell her and she's fine with it then she's going to think we've been hiding something from her." Matteo says
