"Do you want to finish reading the letter now?" I ask Xander as we sit in his room. Before we were attacked by the guards, Xander explained to me what was in Alessandro's letter and how he got one. He was about to open his when the first shots were fired.
I'm on the couch to the left side of the bed if you're sitting in it. Xander moves his feet so they are planted on the ground, facing me.
"I'm gonna have to open it eventually" He groans grabbing the white envelope off his nightstand
He breaks the seal and pulls out a few pages, along with a flash drive. He puts the flash drive down on the bed before starting to read the letter.
"Xander,
I assume you've listened to Alessandro's letter by now. Hopefully you're reading this in private, or with your blue-eyed bestie, Andrei. You are very predictable Xander.
Let's get down to business. Bennett Keller was a target you were assigned to terminate. We both know the details of the mission so no need to go over every little detail. However, what actually went down that night is very different than what's in the report, isn't that right?
Two years ago, you had an even a bigger ego than you do now. How that's possible...I'm not sure. The night of the mission you didn't go over every possible outcome. You didn't even have detailed confirmation that every single person was actually in that building. Then, instead of having your team individually kill each target, you placed bombs around the perimeter of the building.
Rookie Mistake...frowny face.
But the one thing no one knows, is that you ignored a comment from one of your team members. A comment that warned you to double check all targets were at the location. That the bombs you planted around the perimeter had more than enough force to kill everyone. That maybe you, as the team leader, should have come up with a better plan in case something goes wrong.
Indeed, that plan went wrong. Not only because a target wasn't there, but because the explosives had more force than you first believed. Leading to half of your team being severely injured, including yourself.
I hope by now you understand how stupid that plan of action actually was.
Because of this, you didn't realize that Bennett Keller's brother, Shawn, was in the building and not our dear friend Benny. Shawn took his brother's place to get information from the other men your team did exterminate. Ending up dead like the rest of them.
