Y/N got ready for her date with Bruno way too early. By the time the evening had rolled around, she had primped and re-primped what seemed like a hundred times. However, she didn't put on her dress until 6:30.
Dressed, she stood before her full length mirror, adjusted the neckline on the gown, fluffed her curled hair. She gave a small smile and nodded. This was as good as it would get. The knock at the door broke into her thoughts and she shut off the light and headed for the door.
Swinging the door open revealed Bruno, beautiful as ever, holding out a gorgeous bunch of blue roses. His sapphire eyes looked up at her, almost matching the blooms. "Good evening, principessa," he greeted.
A dazzling smile spread across Y/N's face. "Such a fantastic color, Bruno! They match your eyes!" After the words left her mouth, she realized the boldness of her compliment and blushed.
Chuckling softly, Bruno suggested, "You should get these in a vase if you have one."
Y/N nodded, curls shifting with the movement. Bruno remained on the doorstep. "You may come in," she called over her shoulder as she moved to the kitchen. Finding a vase quickly, she placed the flowers in the water and headed back to Bruno.
He stood like a perfect statue just inside the door, looking just a bit unsure of what to do with himself. She mentally giggled, thinking that didn't seem like it would happen often; he seemed like a decisive man. His black suit, accented by a blue shirt that seemed to be made from the same starlight as his eyes, was immaculate and clearly tailored. The golden clips in his shining hair were replaced with golden ones adorned with large blue stones. Again she thought, those couldn't be real gemstones.
He extended a hand, holding hers with a gentle yet firm grip. He paused for a moment to take in the sight of her. She felt his eyes travel down the liquid gold of her dress. The gown had slender straps made of rhinestones, a cowl style neckline pooled at her bust. The asymmetrical hemline flashed her toned legs, on her feet velvet blue heels. Her hair was down in a flurry of curls, gold and blue hoop earrings shimmered through her H/C hair.
A smirk danced at the corners of Bucciarati's lips. "We match, tesoro." Y/N nodded, wondering how she had managed to do that two nights in a row. "Shall we?" He motioned to the door.
Y/N nodded, grabbing her keys and her clutch that matched her pumps. Locking the door she linked arms with Bruno, they walked to his car. Again she was stunned at the sight of another beautifully restored motor vehicle. The black Rolls Royce Phantom was more extravagant than Y/N had imagined for Bruno. He held the door open revealing a blue and gold interior. Again she felt a little overwhelmed by sitting in such an immaculate vehicle.
Bruno seemed to notice her hesitation, chuckling he said,"It won't break, cara. Please relax." Shutting the door of the opulent car, he slid in and the evening began.
Arriving at an elegant restaurant, the maitre de greeted Bruno. "Mr. Bucciarati, madame, one moment please." He left momentarily, returning with an older gentleman. This man approached Bruno with a warm greeting.
"Mr. Bucciarati, it is so good to see you! I can see what brings you here," glancing at Y/N the man winked.
Bruno smiled and with a slight chuckle, "Tony, I don't need a reason to be here. The cuisine and service here is immaculate!"
"You are far too kind! Let me seat you, I have just the spot for you, quiet and romantic," the owner winked again as he led the way.
Y/N glanced at Bruno, who offered his arm again. As they made their way to a private dining area, many people greeted Bruno. Y/N couldn't believe he would know so many people.
Once seated, the dining experience began. Each plate of food was like a work of art. Soft music lilted over their table, lit with candles instead of the crystal chandeliers of the main dining area.
The couple enjoyed conversation, locking eyes often. Normally Y/N would be uneasy with the amount of eye contact, but with Bruno it did not feel invasive.
Taking a sip of wine, Bruno rose from his seat. Raising her eyes to meet his, he held out a hand, his other tucked behind his back. "Do you waltz?"
Y/N smiled, taking his hand as he bowed slightly. She nodded, thinking those impromptu dances in the living room with her grandmother have finally paid off.
As Cielito Linda played softly, the pair began the waltz. Despite the lack of space the dance was enjoyable. As they found their pace together, he felt her relax under the hand on her back. As the song ended, he drew her closer. "You are stunning. Are you ready to go?" He gave the compliment as if he were stating an undeniable fact. Y/N nodded and allowed him to lead her from the restaurant.
Chatting in the car as he drove, she wondered where they were headed next. Soon, Bruno guided the car to a slow stop, the car facing the view of the ocean. "Leave your shoes," he said, toeing his off and coming around to open the door for her.
They strolled along the moonlit beach, eventually holding pinkies. The silvery moonlight danced along the sluggish tide, glinting off his eyes as he would glance at her while they talked in hushed voices. It was such a perfect night for a stroll along the beach. Peace and satisfaction settled over them as they got their toes wet in the squishy sand.
As Bruno walked her to her door, she again found herself wishing the night would never end. Bruno kissed her hand and took his leave, with a promise to call soon.
Y/N sighed wondering how she would ever be able to chose between these two dashing men. She marveled at how her perspective had changed in a few short days. A week ago she thought she was happy with her solitary lifestyle. Two dates later, all she could think about was when would be her next opportunity to spend time with one of these handsome young men.
