Y/N'S POV

SLAM!

"I win...again."

Ugh.

I glance up at my opponent who just kicked my ass.

My best friend, Korra. She has a cocky grin on her smug face, teeth shining in the blinding sunlight. Her hands are crossed on her chest to further emphasise her arrogance.

Arrogance well deserved because she has kicked my butt so many times that I've lost count.

It's been a while since we made the brochures for the recruiting airbenders to join the reborn Air Nation. Since then, we've been travelling across the Earth Kingdom and visiting village to village, town to town, for said recruiting. So far, we've had no new members. The best we've had is some taking our brochures and promising they will think about it. It's better than nothing, I suppose. Still, it's disappointing.

We are currently on our way to yet another village. As of now, Korra is teaching me some airbending moves.

And, by "teaching", I mean kicking my ass.

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up." I tell her with a sly smile. "You've defeated me again Sifu Korra."

Humming in acknowledgement, Korra lifts her chin up in superiority. "You still have much to learn, my student."

I snort. "Clearly."

Korra's smugness transitions to simple joy as she walks over to me and outstretches her palm to me. I grab her hand and she effortlessly pulls me upward to my feet.

All jokes aside, Korra is a good teacher when she wants to be. She has taught me some of the basics of the motions and techniques airbenders often use. She has also shown me some tricks she herself has used.

"Seriously, though, you did good." My best friend assures me. "Much better start than my training under Tenzin."

Heh. Yeah, her training had a...rocky...start. I can't believe how quick everything has gone.

"You can say that again." I speak. "Still, it is kind of humiliating landing on my butt for the millionth time."

Korra cocks her head to the side, smirking again. "So are you saying you don't want a rematch?"

"Now, I never said that." I reply, sending her a smirk of my own. "Let's go one more time."

With a nod, Korra walks a good distance away from me until we are at the opposite ends of the balcony. She then raises her arms with her palms stretched wide open in a fighting-ready pose.

"Ready?"

I get into a similar pose and take a deep, long breathe. Then, I let go.

"Let's do this."

Korra charges.

With our previous spars, I end up lunging forward as well and begin our spar. I have been acting too aggressive, something an Air Nomad shouldn't be unless necessary. However, my losses have been good lessons on how my best friend fights. Fighting side-by-side with her is a much different experience than actually fighting her. Korra is a bolt of lightning. She desires to end the fight as soon as possible with the deadliest attack. She is quick and relentless. Precise and deadly. I have been foolish to try and match her in that territory. If I am to defeat her, I need to be smarter and more patient.
