Y/N'S POV
It has been a few weeks since the duel. Korra quit Tarrlok's task force, which is completely understandable. I decided to quit too right afterwards. I respect Tarrlok and the deputes for leading the attack against Amon and the Equalists, but the way he made Korra join his task force was absolutely disgusting, not to mention he wanted me to not go to memorial island when my best friend could have been in danger, which, in my eyes, is unforgivable. Since then I have been focusing on improving my chi-blocking. I still can't get the sight of Korra crying with fear out of my head. Amon will suffer for what he did to her. Korra, on the other hand, has been continuing her Avatar training, as well as practicing with Mako and Bolin for the pro-bending championship.
Speaking of pro-bending, I'm currently in the arena gym as I watch Korra, Mako, and Bolin train together. They have gotten much better since the last time I saw them. If they keep this up, they'll definitely be in the finals for sure. After they knocked each other onto the floor they all laugh, myself included, and get back up.
"It's been great having you at so many back-to-back practices, Korra." Mako says with clear joy on his face.
Korra smiles as she takes her helmet off. "Feels good to be back, although Tarrlok isn't too happy about Y/N and I's leave of absence."
I chuckle, my lips curving into a smile. "You can say that again."
"Hey, you guys joined the Fire Ferrets before you joined his task force." Bolin responds.
Mako calls his brother, my best friend, and even me over for a team huddle. I can see Bolin giving Korra a flirtatious smile, only for her to look at Mako with a big grin on her face. The firebender and I look at each other with weirded out looks and shrug. "It's our first match of the tournament tonight. I know Korra, Bolin and I haven't been a team for very long, but even so, the Fire Ferrets have never been this good. Are we ready?"
All of us respond to Mako's question with enthusiasm. "We're ready!"
"Not quite."
We all turn our heads to see Asami holding some sort of uniform.
"You'll need these."
Oh yeah! The Future Industries uniform for the Fire Ferrets. How could I forget?
We watch Mako and Asami talk to each other. I glance at Korra and see a jealous look on her face. Yep. She is pissed.
Now you know what it feels like.
I shake that insidious thought from my mind, and see the couple giving each other a eskimo kiss. I awed quietly. They're so cute together. Korra on the other hand doesn't see it that way, as she begins to fake gag. Oh Korra, never change.
As Mako and Asami go on their lunch date, I see Bolin walking up to Korra.
"So, Korra...there they go, here we are. All alone in the gym. Just you and me, two alone people. Together. Alone."
Apparently I don't exist now.
I awkwardly cough, bringing their attention to me.
"Oh!" Bolin quickly responds. "Sorry, Y/N, I completely forgot you were there! Not that you're forgettable or anything, it's just, uh..."
I chuckle. "No worries, Bolin. Korra and I have to head back to Air Temple Island. We'll see you tonight, okay?"
Bolin's face falls to disappointment for a split second, before replacing it with joy. "Alright, see you guys later!"
Korra and I are in a comfortable silence as we walk out the arena. I decide to speak up:
"Hey, can I ask you something?"
