Where had Javi gone?
Smoke entered both Duck and Clem's lungs. The two coughed, both of them covering their mouths with their arms.
"Shit- This is bad!" Duck grabbed onto Clementine watching as walkers began wondering through the hole the truck had made in the wall. Clementine grabbed a knife from her sheath before handing Duck a weapon from a discarded body.
Clem grabbed at a walker before it could get too close, dragging it to the ground before stabbing it through the head. Duck shot the gun, taking out three more walkers before realizing others from the community were still running rampid.
Duck and Clem turned back toward the community that was now riddled with bodies, some innocent and others not. Duck looked around for any sign of Javier and instead found a worried looking Mariana fighting her way toward them.
"I saw the truck! Is Javi okay!?" The worry in her eyes mixed with her panicked voice sank Duck. For the simple fact that he could not give her a solid answer, he couldn't ease her pain, and he wanted to.
Instead he told the truth. "We can't find him. We don't even know if he was in the truck at all, he's not there..."
The moaning from the walkers got louder, the dead were slowly taking over Richmond right before their eyes. They had to get out fast.
The three made their way through the streets once more, fighting their way through the walkers and other soldiers that had decided to fight despite their leaders cowering away. Joan had disappeared, and so had Clint. Neither one could be seen in the crowd.
Clementine stayed close, her eyes training on everything around her. She had since traded her knife for her pistol, her finger stayed on the trigger. The moans of the dead fell silent to her, all she saw was the chaos around her, just like she had done plenty of times before.
But this time was different, still sad, but this was not home. This pace only served her bad memories so seeing it fall wasn't necessarily painful for her. The innocents fell, but they were also the one's cheering for Duck's demise not even 10 minutes ago. This place was tarnished.
The sooner they left the better.
"JAVI!" Mariana bolted away from both Clem and Duck startling the capped girl for a moment until she saw who she was running toward. But the longer Clementine looked the sooner she realized that Mari was not running toward anything living.
And Duck had caught on too. "Mariana no!" He ran after her, grabbing her by the shoulder right when she was about to wrap her arms around it. Mari only stopped once the figure turned to reveal itself, growling. His jaw was deformed, skin dried and dead.
It lunged at her, but Duck pulled her back right in time. It fell to the ground allowing Duck to crush its skull with the heel of his shoe. Clem caught a glimpse of a moving figure beside them, about to pull the trigger to her gun before putting it down.
She tapped Mariana on her arm, getting her attention before pointing to a very living and breathing Javi fighting his way toward them with a captured Joan in his grasp. The older woman screamed for help, but no one heard or if they did hear they didn't care.
He threw the woman to their feet right before Duck.
"Found her running through the streets, leaving her own people to fend for themselves."
Duck stared down at the woman before him, Clem doing the same. The boy gripped the gun in his hand. trying to refrain himself from completely losing it. Joan had caused him so much pain, and had taken so much from him. He knelt down in front of her.
"I dreamed of this for so long..." For the first time Duck could see fear in her eyes. "You deserve everything that has happened."
"I did what I did for my people-"
