There Are Still Good People

Clem and Mariana stood aside as they watched Eleanor and Francine drive off in the van.

The group had decided that it would be in the best interest that Francine and Eleanor go on ahead to ensure the woman got the health care she needed.

The rest of the group would follow behind on foot.

It would take a bit longer, a couple days at most but eventually they'd all be reunited again.

But the girls were getting impatient. Mariana had her cousin to find and Clementine had a bone to pick and as much as they hated to admit it, the group was holding them back.

And things weren't any smoother knowing that Conrad didn't trust Clem. She could feel him staring at her throughout the day, so much so it got to the point it was hard to ignore.

She turned to face the man, her own gaze meeting him.

She growled in frustration. Mariana looked back curious on who Clem could be audibly addressing. She shook her head, reaching down to grab Clem's hand to move them forward quicker.

But Clem was still facing Conrad.

"I don't trust you, you bring trouble." He fussed.

The girl rolled her eyes in response, turning away from the man. "Join the party." She signed, allowing Mariana to move them forward.

"You can't let him get under your skin. He's in pain."

Clem signed back. "I know that. I'm not stupid, but he won't stop with the stars."

"Ignore him or it's going to open up a totally different can of worms."

Conrad watched as the girls signed back and forth, his eyes squinted. He started thinking of ways to get Clem out of the group, he had a firm belief that if she continued on with them there would be nothing but trouble.

His eyes trailed down to the small cat that trailed beside her, he knew she loved that cat, everyone in the group, hell even everyone back at Prescott knew Clementine loved that cat.

He smirked, he had a plan. Reaching in his back pocket he unbaled an old piece of paper, but not just any paper, a wanted poster with Clem's face dead and center on it.

He knew how to get her alone, convince the group that she was bad news and get them on his side by turning her over to the proper authorities. Francine would clearly need medical help after Richmond and these people would surely give it if they showed up to their gates with the one thing they wanted.

Clementine.

"It's getting late." Tripp turned to his small group consisting of two children and his best friend. "Won't do us no good burning ourselves out."

Clem read his lips fairly well and with Mariana still holding her hand and Cocoa now climbing up her body to get some rest she went off to find somewhere relatively safe to sleep.

Tripp chose an abandoned car not far from everyone, and Conrad decided he wanted to stay up and keep watch.

Clem brought Mariana to a small tent, she had seen it walking up and it looked safe from what she could see.

"How rare is it that we find a tent like this?" Clem smiled as she signed, Mariana chuckled in response.

"Pretty rare I'd say."

The two opened the tent finding nothing but old blankets inside like they expected. They crawled in, Mariana laying flat on her stomach absolutely exhausted from the day.

Clementine however had no desire to sleep. She could feel herself getting tired, and her eyes were a bit heavy but for some reason she felt sleep was not in her future for tonight.
