The carriage came to a slow stop in from of us. Then the door to the carriage creaked open slowly.

Marina and I looked at each other, deeply unnerved by this unmanned carriage.

"Kaw-kaw, step inside if you wish to meet the Dark One," a voice cried out from above the carriage.

There on the roof of the carriage was a disturbing avian creature whose form was patterned in sets of threes. Three eyes, wings, feet, feathers, and three shades of color.

I felt physically ill looking at it. Nothing about it was immediately unpleasant, but the more I looked at it, the more unnatural it looked and the more it made me want to tear out my own eyes. I turned to Marina who looked like she want to run away in fear after clawing out her own eyes.

"If you wish to meet the Dark One climb in," it said once more.

I looked once more at Marina before stepping inside; she followed suit and sat down across from me.

The door closed on its own and after a few moments, the carriage began to move.
