Looking toward the box where my wife's ring was, I saw a red thread leading outward into the deep fog.
"Yes, I see it," I said.
"Good now, take hold of it and follow it. It will lead you toward her," the Dark One replied.
Approaching the thread of light, I reached out and took hold of it. The thread was cool to the touch, and the further away from the ring, the more it appeared to turn pink color, then it became white, then finally grey.
Apprehensively, I looked at the misty void before me, then turned to Marina and nodded at her. She likewise nodded back at me.
"Alright, here we go," I said aloud.
"Good luck, and goddess' fortune," I heard the Dark One say before we walked through the fog.
Immediately, everything was overtaken by that grey fog. My vision began to shift and change. Up was left, and back was up. Things in the distant were hazy and obscured, moving as if trying to look at something beneath flowing waters.
The only constant was the thread in front of me.
So slowly, Marina and I followed that lifeline.
