(First born)
I cried tears of joy. "He's perfect". I sobbed out happily. Neteyam kisses my forehead and stroked his new son's cheek lovingly. The little baby cooed as it stared into neteyams eyes. "I'm so proud of you my sister". Reya says giving me a kiss on the cheek. "What will you two name him?". Ronal asked as Neytiri also stood there, wondering.
"Hawnu, his name will be Hawnu". I say. "That's a perfect name". Neteyam agreed.
(4 years later)
"Hawnu where are you!". I called out, trying to listen for his little giggles. I stalked, listening closely. I heard a small giggle and I see Hawnu trying to look behind the rock for me. I sneak up behind him and quickly snatch him up. My smile glowed brightly hearing his laughter run through the air. "Awww, you always find me mama". He pouts. "No matter where you go or hide, I will always find you Maitan". I tell him. "I'm tired now mama". He huffs. I laugh lightly as he cuddles into my chest. "Let's go home, I'm sure you're father is waiting for us both". I say. I walk home with him in my arms. His light snores now filled the air. Once I walked back to our marui. Neteyam greeted us both with a gentle kiss. "Here I will put him to bed". He says, grabbing our son out of my arms. I give him one more kiss on his head and say goodnight. "Where is my nephew". Lo'ak called loudly making a ruckus as he walked in.
I shushed him quickly and he stops his movements. "Lil bro why do you gotta be so loud". Neteyam scolded him. "I'm not so little you can stop calling me that". Lo'ak grumbles. "No matter how old you are, you will always be my little brother". Neteyam ruffled Lo'ak's hair. They started play fighting making too much noise. I hissed at them both. "If you are going to be so loud while my son sleeps, get out". I say to both of them. "Out go". I usher them. "I live here too". I give Neteyam a look and he shuts his mouth quickly. "Okay ma Nora, we're
Going". He says, quickly ushering his brother along, terrified at his wife's glare. "Bro you're such a pussy". I heard Lo'ak tease him. "Come on Ma Tsireya is cooking dinner, you can join us". Lo'ak says,
I shake my head and decide to join my son as he slept.
(Hawnu goes missing)
I was weaving baskets when a panicked Lo'ak and Neteyam ran inside. "Nora, I swear we had him in our sight, but then, I don't know what happened or where he went". Lo'ak ranted too quickly making me confused. "Ma Nora, Hawnu went missing". Neteyam said slowly. I shot up out of my spot. "What!, where was the last time you saw him?". I asked grabbing my bow in my hands just in case. "We were teaching him how to hunt, we thought he was right behind us but then we looked back and he was gone". Lo'ak explained. "Ma Nora, I'm sure he's alright". "He is 4 years old and lost out in the forest, I do not think our son is alright". I seethed, storming out and heading into the forest. "You mustn't think like that my love". Neteyam tried to stay calm and get me to do the same. "He is 4 I'm sure nothing bad will happen, he's probably tucked away hiding". Neteyam says trying to comfort me. "I was 4 years old and hiding away too". I yelled. I breathed heavy in anger. "And look what happened". I finished. I turned away and quickly started searching. Neteyam held back his anger and followed her. He knew what she meant. She was 4 when she died. He should've been careful with his words but he believed that his mate shouldn't think such things as well, when they're son gets in danger, she should think that he'll be alright and not already dead. "Which way did you go to hunt?". I questioned them both. "This way". Lo'ak took the lead and we all moved quicker and deeper in. Lo'ak knew how skilled Nora was when it came to tracking. She was trained and was practically born with the skill. I listened to the sounds around and payed close attention to anything out of the ordinary. "Stop". I said. They halt in their spots and watch carefully and look around for any signs of Hawnu at the same time. I noticed how the dirt looked as if it was been pushed back by a force.
Hawnu stumbled on the ground, quickly picking himself up, slipping slightly from the damp dirt.
"This way". I now took the lead and followed that track along. "Hawnu?". I called loudly. "Hawnu". The boys joined. I walked even further and noticed how branches on the trees were snapped. I picked up the pace and followed the path of where I believe he went. "Hawnu!". I called again. "Maitan!". I called again. "Mama, Daddy!". I rushed to the voice of my son and the boys followed quickly as well. I get my knife ready in case a predator is after him. We burst into a small clearing with a creek and a waterfall. And there behind the waterfall in a small cavern was Hawnu. "Maitan". I sighed out happily my running to him. He does the same and I pick him up in my arms and inspect him for any injuries. Neteyam joined as well and Lo'ak stood watching in relief. Neteyam cradled the both of us close to him. "Oh great mother, thank you". I breathed. "Why didn't you stay with your father Nu, you must be carful". I scold him gently as I stroke his head. "I got distracted, I'm sorry mama and I'm sorry daddy for running off". He apologised. "At least you're okay Hawnu, that's all that matters". Neteyam comforts. "You always find me mama". He cried. "No matter where you go or hide, I will always find you Maitan". I replied. We all go back in relief of finding him. Hawnu fell asleep in my arms on the way. I place him into bed and I rub my tired and stressed face. I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder and I perk my head coming face to face with my husband. We stare at each other and we just had a quiet understanding. "I'm sorry Ma Neteyam, I overreacted". I apologised, avoiding eye contact. "No, I am sorry princess, I should've kept a closer eye on him". He places a hand on my cheek and kisses me softly. "Come to bed, you seem stressed my love". He said, noticing the way her tired eyes were drained.
(Hawnu age: 8)
"Mom, stop I'm a big kid now I don't need a kiss". My son whined as I gave him a peck on the cheek. "No matter how big you get, you will always be my little boy, and I will kiss you as much as I want". He groaned in annoyance. "Don't you have dad for that". I looked back to Neteyam and saw the smile on his face from his sons words. "Your father gets plenty". I say. "And plenty of other things". I heard him mutter. "Neteyam". I scold. "Can I go now". He complained. "Yes but be back for dinner". I sternly say and he rushes off to his friends. "Hi Aunty Nora". Tsireya's little daughter Navita waved out to me. "Afternoon Navita". I called back to her. Her, Hawnu and their other friends run off to play.
"You know what?". Neteyam questioned, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist. He kissed my neck lightly. "I wouldn't mind having a daughter". He nibbled my ear. I sighed out in delight at the feeling. "As great as that sounds My love, he is already a handful".
"Give him a little sister to look after, responsibility, it'll calm him down a bit". Neteyam tried to convince me. "I will think about it". I say.
