The next day the rain still fell upon the clan, Neteyam was currently with me "are you busy this afternoon?". He asked. "Just for a little bit, I have to go check on the tulkun". I tell him. "Be careful out there". He tells me. "I will Ma Neteyam, stay out of trouble while I am gone". I reply. "You mean keep my brother out of trouble while you're gone". He corrected. "Yes that too". I joke. We cuddled for awhile, enjoying each others company.
Later on we parted ways and I met up with Tonowari, Jake, Ronal and Neytiri. I did the I see you motion to greet them all. And they did it in return. It was silent when we rode out there. "What the hell are those?". I asked, pointing at orange things floating in the water. "Come". Tonowari says. We follow him over. And instantly what we saw was heartbreaking. "No". I whisper. I dive off my Ilu and swim over to the smaller tulkun floating as Ronal rushed next to the other. "No, no, no". I repeat, cradling her close to me. I only knew her for a day but that's all it took for me to get attached. I yell in anger and sadness, holding back the tears that wanted to fall. I seethed my teeth in anger. How could he, how could he. "I'm so sorry". I whisper ,leaning my head against her. "What is this Tonowari, what is this". Ronal cried to him, wondering what happened to Roa and Riko. Why had they been killed. "She waited many mating cycles to have this calf, this calf was meant to be Nora's sister". Ronal explained, tears falling down her face. Everyone had looked over at the girl who was cradling the calf closely to her.
"I am sorry child". I lift my head up at ronals word and look at her sadly. "This is all my fault". I say. Turning away from them and leaning my head against Riko. "Don't blame yourself". "This is my fathers doing". I answer back. "We don't know-". "I know, I know it is because...because...I would've done the same". I said, shamefully. "Because I would've thought it would draw your guy's attention, if he can't find us, he wants us to find him". I explain. I look away in guilt. I felt a hand on my shoulder. "This is not your fault, you had no intention to hurt our brothers and sister, your sister, this was only your fathers doing, not yours". Tonowari assures. I just continue to lean against Riko. Not wanting to let go. "We have to tell the others". Tonowari spoke up. Ronal raised her head up strong. "We can't just leave them like this". I say. "We don't have time child". Tonowari says. I turn to look at Riko one last time. I lean my head against hers and whispered. "I'm sorry sister, I will fight for you and whoever did this to you, will pay". I sneer. I swear I could hear the little cries of her voice before she went down. We head back to the village, Tonowari and Ronal stalked up to the meeting area. Everyone was gathered in a circle around the two. Ronal announced loudly. "My soul sister and her calf have been killed by the sky people". She cried and seethed in anger. "This war has come to us, We heard about the hunting of our brothers and sisters but it was far over the horizon, far away, but now it is here". Tonowari stomped his foot in anger, showing a mighty warrior face. Everyone reacted the same way he did. All furious with what they heard. Jake, tried convincing them that the sky people were just having them on. "You gotta tell your tulkun to leave, to go far away". He yelled trying to convince them. "You live among us and you learn nothing". Ronal spits. "We will fight to protect our brothers and sisters". One of the warriors called making everyone let out a war cry. "No, no,no,no, if you fight, they will destroy you, they will destroy everything you love". Jake speaks and motions his hands around. Everyone hisses at him in anger, not wanting to listen to his words. Neteyam tried to tell the people to be calm and listen. Dad grabs the orange tracking device out of Neteyams hands and stand up in the middle of the crowd, gaining everyone's attention. Everyone looks at him wary. "You tell the tulkun that if they're hit by one of these, they are marked for death". "Saving their lives is all that matters, saving your family". Jake had finally started to convince them. Making everyone go quiet at his words. "Tell the tulkun". Tonowari speaks, and everyone rushes off to find their brother or sister. Neteyam looked at me worriedly. "What's wrong?". "The calf Ronal was talking about, she was meant to be my sister and now she's gone". I say sadly. "Just because she's gone doesn't mean she isn't". He says. I perk my head up at his words. "She is in here with you". He says placing a hand on my heart. I grab ahold of his and lean against his chest. "I am here for you". He whispers to me fondly. "Neteyam your brother is leaving". Rotxo had come up to Neteyam breaking the moment. Neteyam looked at me and I nodded at him. "Go get him before does anything stupid, I'll be here". I say. He nods and him and Rotxo run off. I went back to Tonowari and ronals marui along with Jake. "Are we really just gonna sit around and do nothing?". I ask them. "You heard Jake". Was all tonowari replied with. We were standing around for awhile and I started to worry about Neteyam and the others. "Have you seen the kids?". Jake asked me. "No last time I seen them they went to talk to Lo'ak". I tell him. "Where?". He asked. "On the dock". I answer him. Just as I said that a familiar and panicked voice came through jakes ear piece. Jakes face had held panic and fear. "What is it?". I ask him. Jake looks between Ronal, Tonowari and I. "The kids are in trouble, they went to warn a tulkun and it's been marked, the demons ship is after them by the three brothers rocks". Was all Jake said. "What all of them?". I asked in fear. "All of them". Jake confirmed. Without hesitation I ran back to my marui. I went down under the dock and found the little cavern. I pulled out a box and lifted it on to the dock and into the marui. I removed the clothing Ronal let me wear and wore my army gear again. I wore my singlet, camo pants and the spare boots that I had. Out of the box I pulled out and I wore a bandoleer and enough ammunition, around one shoulder and a shoulder holster underneath, that held two guns on each side. I also took my AVR-30 machine gun around my other shoulder. I didn't realise Ronal was standing there watching me gear up. I couldn't tell if she was disappointed or concerned. "What's wrong?". I ask her, as I pace back and forth to collect things. "What will you do when you see your father".
"I don't know". I answered honestly. "Do you really have to take all of this?". She asked gesturing to what I wore and all the weapons. "Spears and arrows will go a long way, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire". I tell her. She fell silent. She placed a hand on my shoulder and then another on my cheek. "Come home". She simply says. "I will, I promise". I say. "We better hurry, stay with Tonowari and be careful with the baby, tell him I'm gonna try sneak around the back, if anything I'll find my way around and I'll do what I can to stop the ship, find the others". I tell her. She nods and we both hurry out. "I'll take the Ilu, it'll be more unnoticeable, I'll meet you guys there okay?". I tell her. She heads back to the other adults and I make my way to the ship. I caught sight of Ronal telling Tonowari my plan and Jake. They see me and nod in understanding. We both went our ways.
