"All I'm saying Alex is that it's got to stop. You're giving yourself and the band a bad image. We're losing connections due to your reckless behaviour....." Colin's voice drained on. I wasn't listening to him though, I concentrated on the steady rainfall outside the window behind him. My fingers resting on my temple, supporting my head as I leant on the arm of the chair. The monotonous sound of his voice filling the room.
He slapped his hand down on the desk that sat between us, causing me to pay attention to him. "Alex! Do you see my point here?" His voice serious and slightly raised. I thought of something to witty to say but I knew now wasn't the time. "Yes I do Colin. I will stay out of the headlines"
"Oh I know you will. I've got the very person to do that" the vein in his forehead popped out, showing his growing anger.
"No! No more fake relationships or stories, cover ups, I don't care no! I said I will fooking calm down and I will." I leant back against the back of my chair. I was fuming. Absolutely fooking fuming. But I kept it in, now was not the time or the place.
"I never said there would be. I mean I'm bringing in your own personal publicist. Well not just for you but the whole band. I can't do it on my own any more Al. We both know that. She's a nice woman and is extremely good at her job I assure you."
"We don't need her! I'll calm down, I swear." I guess you could say I'm protective over our tightly knit circle. I don't like new people. I never have and never will.
"Look Alex, you and I both know that I'm struggling. I want what's best for the band. And I truly believe that she is it. This new album could be huge but with the right plan. Let her do her job and you do yours. It's simple really."
I sat contemplating the idea. What could she possibly bring to the table that Colin can't?
"Alright, only because I want what's best for the music. What will she even do?"
"She'll deal with your public image. She'll be working along side me and we will hopefully be able to save the little to no reputation you have left for yourself." His eyes fixed on me. I could feel the disappointment in his voice.
"Alright, alright. I get it."
"Good. There will be a meeting tomorrow where introductions will be made and we can get plan undergo. Right now you need to get back to the studio and produce some more of that gold stuff of yours."
I got out of my seat and headed toward the door. I was still pretty pissed about the situation but I understand why.
"Oh and Turner don't be late!"
"Yeah, yeah."
I zipped up my jacket and braces myself for the rain. Sheffield is not exactly the best place to ride a motorcycle. But I like the feeling it gives me. What can I say? It boosts my ego. Caught the lift down and walked through the reception area. A few people snapping pictures of me but who cares. You could say I'm something if he public eye these days.

I woke up and glanced at the clock beside my bedside table. Shit. How can it be 11am already? Climbing out of the bed the room began to spin. Holding onto the wall for support i stammered to the bathroom. Slashing my fave with some water to wake me up a bit. I sifted through the cupboard for some painkillers. My head was pulsating against my skull.
I pulled on some fresh clothes not having enough time to shower. Pulling a comb through my hair moulding it in to its usual quiff. I grabbed my leather jacket putting it on. I grabbed the keys for my bike but soon opted against the idea. I was no where in the right state to drive. I called a cab. Barking down the phone giving them my address and telling them to hurry.
I pulled my phone out my pocket. Looking at my notifications that lit up across the screen. I was going to be in big shit when I got to the mangers office. Fuck. Shoving my phone back in my pocket. The cab pulled outside and I jumped in directing him to my destination.
I slipped inside the lift, pressing the 8th floor button. I definitely wasn't ready for this. This hangover was a bitch and the sound of Colin's voice right now was not what I needed.
I pushed open the door and took a seat next to Nick. Trying my best to make little interruption as possible.
"Nice of you to join us Mr. Turner."
I didn't recognise that voice. I looked up to see a well dressed, sophisticated woman sitting opposite me. Her red lips pursed. Her blonde hair falling in loose curls framing her face. There was something about her that I couldn't quite pin down. But I would in time.
"Sorry I'm late. Traffic was a nightmare"
"Pretty awful excuse judging you were photographed at a party last night. Learn that people are always watching you Mr. Turner."
I shot a look at Colin. But he simply shot me one back. Knowing that I should just put up and shut up. I looked back at her insinuating for her to continue.
"As I was saying, the Arctic Monkeys could dominate this summer. I'm talking everyone will want you at their festival. The people love what you produce. But right now thanks to monkey boy over here your reputation is not the best now."
I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. But she had my full attention alright. There was something about the way her mouth moves when she popped her P's and formed her O's. She spoke with confidence. Like she had full control she marks me as a person who likes to have control.
The sound of my name pulled me from my thoughts. The sound her voice calling my name sounded so good. The way the her mouth looked when she formed the sound of the A. It was just right.
"Alex. I need you to focus here. The label is threatening to drop you. You know what that means."
"Yes I do love. "
"Don't use that charm on me it won't work."
I looked up and caught her stare. Her eyes were this beautiful olive green colour. Truly mesmerising. And from that moment onwards I knew that there was this unspoken connection between us. I knew she felt it to. But I just didn't know how strong it truly was. Or how damaging it could be. And from now on I would compare everyone I meet to her.
