"why do i have to sit next to a random boy, i don't even know him?" i asked my sister as her, levi and i sat at the dining room table, discussing their wedding plans.
"why are you so panicky?" my soon-to-be brother in law chuckled, "he's a nice kid, slightly awkward, but he's nice. he reacted the same way you are, don't worry."
"no, don't get me wrong, i'm sure he's lovely." i started, continuing to eat my pistachios, "i just don't get why i have to sit with him and not my mum, or maia?"
"because it's four people per table, ev." my sister shook her head, putting her pen down. "maia's sitting at the same table with you, just across from you with jonah."
jonah was a family friend of ours, and jonah and maia got along like two peas in a pod.
"okay, then why can't lorelai sit with me?" i suggested, perking up at the thought.
"because, lorelai is sitting with her family. why do you have to be so difficult about it? tommy's parents can't make it, and you're the only one around his age. mum and dad are sitting at the table with levi and i, with his parents. it's for a few hours, it won't kill you, everly." aurora sighed, clearly getting frustrated with me.
"right, whatever." i gave in, plainly to make her happy.
"thank you." she smiled, sarcasm in her tone. "i'll pay for your drinks, for your consideration."
"can you tell me more about him, at least?" i turned to look at levi, considering it was his family friend so he knew much more than any of us did.
"well, he's eighteen like you, he's kind of awkward at first but once he warms up to you he's alright, he streams on that twitch thing, erm, i don't know, what do you wanna know?"
"i don't know, i feel like i'm interviewing the poor boy and he's not even here."
levi laughed, pulling his phone out and taking auroras pen, writing something down on a small piece of paper, handing it to me. "question him yourself then!"
i took the paper and gave the two of them a sarcastic smile, getting up from the table and going to to my room, taking my pistachios with me.
