"everly, i need to ask you a question."
tommy and i were, again, lying in the boot of my car watching the sun rise. my sister had her baby, my song was doing amazingly and i'd never ever felt happier.
"shoot me." i replied, adverting my attention to the blonde.
"do you want to be my girlfriend?"
the words streamed out of his mouth, and all the air was taken out of me. maybe my reaction was dramatic, but i stayed quiet for a while.
"no." i responded, trying not to smile. "i'm joking— i'd love to be your girlfriend, tommy."
"you shit me up then," he laughed, shaking his head. "finally though, i think that was very long overdue.
"who would've thought," i started, holding his hand gently. "my sister got married, and now here we are, in a relationship and lying in the boot of my car at almost six in the morning."
"it took me so long to build up the courage to do that." tommy admitted, rubbing small circles on my hand.
"why? it's not like i would've ever said no."
"on the off chance you would say no, i really thought you were going to reject me."
"don't be daft, idiot. i've been obsessed with you from the second you sent me a picture of that stupid face."
he just laughed, pulling me into him. his company was unmatched, we didn't even have to talk and it was like a lullaby. tom simons is my boyfriend. finally.
i'd waited so long for him to say those seven words, and now he'd finally said them. it was so simple yet so meaningful.
"do i get to tell people?" i asked, breaking the silence.
"what? like our friends or the internet?"
"our friends."
"you can tell them, yes. BUT, i get to tell rue." he compromised.
"no," i whined, "please, let me tell rue. you can tell anyone else."
"i get to tell, hm, billzo."
"fine." i agreed, "should we go back? we have a lot to do today."
"we don't have to do our plans." tommy spoke, "it's not that important."
quickly, i made an excuse. we had to go out later on, clay, george and sapnap were going to be sat in his living room waiting to surprise him. after convincing him for a while, we drove back to my house and took a small nap.
