In the library, Keebo was quite busy explaining all sorts of different topics. While Kaito and Tenko didn't understand anything the Ultimate Robot tried to teach them, Maki had left the library first, Tsumugi and Miu only chatted about costumes, and Himiko excused herself to her lab to try out study spells. A little while later, Rantaro and Korekiyo joined the group, although none of them said a word to help the poor robot.
Keebo sighed loudly, which was a rare occurance for a robot. "I need a break", he uttered and placed his head on the table. Miu glanced over to her boyfriend, chuckling and riffling through his white hair. "Should I build more stamina into you~?" That only made Keebo blush and feel even more exhausted. "N-No it's okay", he evaded.
Shuichi ignored them as he still struggled solving the same formula for over 30 minutes. He didn't understand what Monokuma got from giving them exercises with 20 parts to it, which took an eternity (A/N: flashbacks to my maths classes T_T). He continued scribbling onto his notes, although he didn't really get the core of it. Maybe robots weren't suited to explain things after all, since their logic works completely different than those of humans.
"That's wrong. You need to calculate what's inside the brackets before the outside part." A small hand appeared on his notes, pointing to the messy line of formulas he just wrote. Kokichi leaned over Shuichi's back, his head directly next to the detective's, who was more than surprised.
"O-Oh, thank you, Ouma", Shuichi stuttered and crossed out the entire formula. The Ultimate Supreme Leader didn't move an inch while Shuichi rewrote the formula, coming to a conclusion that made way more sense than before. "Yeah, like that. Well done, Saihara-chan!" Kokichi smiled and finally moved away, and Shuichi instantly breathed out in relief.
The others had silently watched the whole scene without saying a word. The Ultimate Supreme Leader sat down on Maki's seat next to Shuichi, putting his books on the table. "Someone else need a hand? I'm pretty sure I can explain it better than Keeboy." Kaito jumped to the chance right away, handing the purple-haired boy his English notebook. Even though the two of them despised each other, they also both cared about the class passing the midterms. That alone made it, at least temporarily, possible for those two to cooperate. (A/N: The irony haha I wrote this before even finishing the game but my intuition was ON POINT)
Shuichi secretly watched as Kokichi explained the subjects not only to Kaito, but Tenko as well. His wide smile while doing so burned itself into the detective's mind. Usually, the Ultimate Supreme Leader preferred to be on his own and hated having to help someone. To think that he took the time out of his day to help his classmates, even the ones he previously hated, filled the detective with a feeling he'd never felt before.
"Something's off about this guy", Tsumugi whispered into Miu's ear. "He never wants to be with us, and now he's playing Ouma-sensei." - "Maybe he has a guilty conscience?", Miu retorted, and immediately both of them eyed Shuichi curiously. Meanwhile he, overhearing their conversation, hid his blushed face behind the textbook.
The day passed faster than anyone expected. A lot of the students, Maki, Ryoma, Himiko, Kaede and Kirumi to be precise, preferred to spend their time alone, while the group in the library spent most of the day studying. The Ultimate Supreme Leader turned out to be the ideal teacher, since it took him a very short time to engrain a lot of complicated concepts into his classmates' brains. Keebo was very glad about that, finally getting to go back to his lab to recharge (A/N: pun intended).
Very soon, the gathered students heard the gong, and the recording of Monokuma telling everyone to get back to their dorms played on the monitors. The others took their sweet time packing up and leaving the library, and Kokichi grabbed a stack of books, going over to an isle to put them back on the bookshelf. Shuichi watched him, and before he knew it, had gotten up and followed him there.
